Park Ji-yeon (born June 7, 1993) is a South Korean singer and actress known as Jiyeon. In July 2009, she made her debut as a member of the girl group T-ara. The group went on to become one of the most successful girl groups in history. Aside from her group's activities, she has also appeared in television dramas such as Soul (2009), Master of Study (2010), Dream High 2 (2012), Triangle (2014), and films such as Death Bell 2: Bloody Camp (2012), Encounter (2013), and (2015). On May 20, 2014, she made her solo debut with her first EP, Never Ever, becoming the first T-ara member to do so.
Childhood and education
Park was born on June 7, 1993, in Seoul, South Korea, to a Korean family. She attended Hyehwa Girls' High School for a short time before graduating from Lila Art High School in 2012. She did not attend university in order to concentrate on her career.
T-career ara's began in 2007 and ended in 2009.
She and Hahm Eun-jung are the only two members of T-ara who have formal acting training. Despite their original intentions, the two switched to singing.
Park has expressed an interest in becoming a model. She appeared in several pictorials and advertisements for clothing company Smart with Korean boy band SHINee in 2007, when she was 15 years old. She worked with Davichi and SeeYa on the digital single "Women's Generation," which was released in May 2009, making her T-first ara's public appearance. She appeared in the music videos "I Love You" and "Crybaby" by SG Wannabe from their 2009 album, Gift from SG Wannabe. Because of her resemblance to Kim, the Korean media dubbed her "Little Kim Tae-hee" early on.
Park joined the company in 2008 after auditioning at the Mnet Casting System. On July 29, 2009, she made her T-ara debut.
Acting debut and breakthrough from 2007 to 2013.
Park starred in the 2007 film Lobbyist. Park starred in Ae-ja and Min-ja in 2008, Possessed in 2009, and High Kick! 2 from 2009 to 2010. Park appeared in Master of Study, a Korean film adaptation of the Japanese manga Dragon Zakura, in 2010. That same year, she starred in the horror film Death Bell 2: Bloody Camp and the youth drama Jungle Fish 2.
Park co-hosted MBC's Show! Music Core with Bae Suzy, Choi Min-ho, and Onew in October 2010. She also joined the cast of SBS's variety show Heroes.
Park was cast in the Korean dub of the animated film Gnomeo and Juliet in 2011.
She starred in the 2012 teen drama Dream High 2 alongside Kang So-ra, GOT7's JB and Jin-young, 2AM's Jinwoon, SISTAR's Hyolyn, and Park Seo-joon.
2014-2017: Debut as a solo artist
Park debuted as a solo artist in May 2014, with the release of the title track "Never Ever" (also known as "1 Minute 1 Second"). For two weeks in a row, the music video ranked first on China's largest music video website, YinYueTai.
Park was cast as the potential wife for Yim Si-character wan's in MBC's television series Triangle in June. The following month, she co-hosted SBS MTV's The Show with Lee Hye-ri.
Park was cast alongside actor Lee Dong-gun in the Korean-Chinese film Encounter in May 2015. In July 2015, she co-wrote "Summer Love" with Jun-hyung of 2BiC.
Park co-starred in the web drama My Runway with Kang Dong-ho in 2016. In December 2016, Netflix released the drama.
Park announced in February 2017 that she would be releasing a new album as a solo artist after three years. However, album preparations were subsequently cancelled.
2018–present: Senpass and continued acting
Park and her fellow T-ara members left MBK Entertainment in early 2018 after their contracts expired. In May 2018, she signed with the Chinese agency Longzhen Culture Development. Park and Vietnamese singer Soobin Hoàng Sn have released music videos for their collaboration track "Between Us" in both Korean and Vietnamese. Jiyeon signed with Partners Park for her domestic activities in November 2018.
Park announced on November 26 that a digital single would be released in mid-December as a thank you gift to fans. Park released music videos for the Korean and Chinese versions of her winter ballad "One Day" on December 22, 2018.
Park was cast in KBS2's mystery, romantic comedy drama I Wanna Hear Your Song on April 2, 2019, alongside Yeon Woo-jin, Kim Se-jeong, and Song Jae-rim.
Senpass, a portmanteau of "Sense" and "Compass," was released by Park on December 26, 2019. The EP consists of five-track including the title track "Take A Hike".
On October 7, 2020, it was announced that actress Park will star in "Next Door Witch J," a new web drama. As a beauty creator, she will play Seo Je Yi. In the same month of 2020, it was announced that the actress would star in another TV series called Imitation alongside Jung Ji-so, Lee Jun-young, and Jeong Yun-ho, which would air on KBS2 in the first half of 2021.
Park left Partners Park on July 12, 2021, when her contract expired.
Park signed an exclusive contract with AnB Group on February 18, 2022.
On July 13, 2022, it was announced that Jiyeon will hold her first solo fan meeting, RE:BLoom, at Yundang Art Hall at 7 PM on the 30th.
On July 15, it was announced that Jiyeon would release the 2022 version of her song "Torre," which she performed 12 years ago.
Private life
Park announced in a handwritten letter via personal SNS on February 10, 2022, that she and baseball player Hwang Jae-gyun will marry in the winter of the same year. On December 10, they married in a private ceremony at Shilla Hotel. IU and Lee Hong-ki sang the congratulatory song at the ceremony, which was attended by the couple's closest family and friends.

Jiyeon was revealed to be a child model who had been active in the industry long before her debut as a singer/actress. Prior to her debut, Jiyeon modelled for a variety of brands and shopping malls, including the SMART uniform advertisement for which she received the "Model of the Year" (Daesang) award in 2008. The commercial featured other k-idols such as F(xVictoria )'s and Shinee's Taemin. Park also took silver in the APM Model Contest in 2007.
Jiyeon was chosen as the cover model for the "Love Song" compilation album in 2009, a popular Original Soundtrack album from the 2000s that sold over 2,000,000 copies in South Korea alone. The following year, Jiyeon was chosen as a model once more.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare appointed Jiyeon as a public relations ambassador for the National Pension Service in 2010. Jiyeon was paid a total of 55 Million Korean Won to advertise the service, ranking first among the highest paid female celebrities, according to the national tax service the Ministry of Health and Welfare and affiliated organisations.
In August 2016, Jiyeon worked as an advertising model with a cosmetic brand for about 360 Million Korean Won (30 Million per month), the product was a personnilzed mask called "T-ara Jiyeon Couple mask".
