Neslihan Atagül Doulu is a Turkish actress who was born on August 20, 1992. She is best known for her role in Kara Sevda (2015-2017), a series that has been sold to over 110 countries and is the only Turkish TV series to have won an International Emmy Award (2017). She starred in the television series Fatih Harbiye (2013–2014) and the films Araf and Senden Bana Kalan. She has received numerous awards and accolades throughout her acting career, including the Academy Award for "Best Actress" at the Tokyo International Film Festival.
Biography
Neslihan Atagül was born in Istanbul on August 20, 1992. Her father worked as a truck driver, and her mother was a housewife. Her father is Circassian, and her mother is Belarussian.
She attended Yeditepe University and majored in theater.
Atagül began her career as an actress when she was only eight years old. In 2005, at the age of 13, she discovered the phone number for the Erberk Agency, which was owned by Neşe Erberk; she obtained Erberk's agency address and went to register with her mother. She landed her first commercial role a month later.
In 2006, she made her acting debut in the film İlk Aşk, for which she won the first prize of her career as "Promising Young Actress". Soon after, she was cast in the series Yaprak Dökümü, and in the years that followed, she appeared in other series such as Canm Babam and Hayat Devam Ediyor.
She was recognized in 2012 for her lead role in the film Araf, for which she received the Academy Award for "Best Actress" at the prestigious Tokyo International Film Festival.
Fatih Harbiye, Fatih Harbiye, Fatih Harbiye, Fat
Atagül received her first leading role in the romance drama series Fatih Harbiye, alongside Kadir Doulu, in 2013. The series is based on Turkish writer Peyami Safa's 1931 novel of the same name, in which she played Neriman Solmaz, a motherless young woman from the mahala who is engaged to her lifelong boyfriend until she meets Macit Arcaolu (Kadir Doulu).
Fatih Harbiye premiered on Fox on August 31, 2013, but was later moved to Show TV. It lasted two seasons and ended on December 10, 2014.
Kara Sevda's rising popularity from 2015 to 2017
In 2015, she landed one of her most important and beloved roles, that of Nihan Sezin in the melodrama Kara Sevda, which became the first Turkish series to win the International Emmy Award for Best Telenovela in 2017. At the Seoul International Drama Awards, the series also received a special jury award.
Kara Sevda has become one of the most popular Turkish television series in the world, having been translated into over 50 languages and broadcast in over 110 countries including Russia, Iran, Slovenia, Uruguay, and Greece. It became the most watched non-Spanish series on the Univision channel during its broadcast in the United States for the Hispanic community.
Atagül won four awards for her performance in this series, and her popularity and recognition skyrocketed not only in Turkey but also internationally, particularly in Arab countries.
She made her online streaming platform debut alongside lker Kaleli in the series Dip (2018).
Sefirin Kz
Neslihan Atagül, who plays Nare in the series Sefirin Kz, returned to the small screen in 2019.
The show aired on Star TV for two seasons, totaling 52 episodes. It premiered on December 16, 2019 and ended on May 11, 2021, and she received the "Best Actress" award at the Izmir Artemis International Film Festival for her performance. However, she announced her withdrawal from the series midway through due to health issues caused by leaky gut syndrome.
Present
Atagül is currently working on a new professional project, Hadsiz Magazine, which will feature stunning photography and exclusive interviews with notable guests.
Private life
In October 2013, Neslihan began dating her Fatih Harbiye co-star Kadir Doulu. They proposed in November 2015 and married in July 2016.
