Nadia Jamil (Urdu: ) (Born: October 19, 1975) is a Pakistani actress and host best known for her roles in Balu Mahi, Behadd, and Damsa, a story about child trafficking.
Childhood and education
Jamil was born on October 19, 1975, in London, but moved to Lahore when she was nine years old. She attended the Convent of Jesus and Mary School in Lahore. She has a Master of English in Literature.
Jamil earned a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and Creative Writing from Hampshire College in the United States. She also attended Allegheny College. She finished her International Fellowship at London's Globe Theatre.
Jamil has spent the last two decades as a Pakistani actress and host. Jamil began her professional career in the 1990s.
Jamil is a trustee at Sunjan Nagar, Raza Kazim's school for impoverished girls. She collaborated on a theatre project with them at Al-Hamra. She also serves as an ambassador for Girl Rising, a project that promotes girls' education. She teaches theatre and drama and is currently working on several projects with organisations such as Oxford University Press and Aitchison, Kids Campus.
She is married to Ali Pervaiz and the mother of two sons, Rakae and Mir Vali.
Jamil was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer/grade 3 tumour in April 2020. She had successful surgery soon after and was out of danger by August.
Jamil appeared in the cancer awareness campaign video "Alvida."
Nadia was sexually abused when she was four years old.
