Robbie exclaimed, "I'm very delighted about it." "I've stated from the outset that what I want Harley Quinn to be is one of those characters that always gets transferred from great actor to great actor, you know, like Macbeth or Batman," The actor went on to say that while it is uncommon for female characters to experience that, she is happy to have laid a foundation upon which other actors can develop. "I think she'll do something fantastic with it," Robbie said in reference to Gaga in Joker: Folie à Deux.
It was revealed in August 2022 that Lady Gaga would play Harley Quinn against Joaquin Phoenix's Joker in the follow-up to the wildly popular 2019 movie. There are rumours that Joker: Folie à Deux will be almost entirely set in Arkham Asylum and may even be a musical, however precise story elements have not yet been made public. If so, Gaga will be right at home because she originally became well-known as a musician and has sold millions of records all over the world.
