Mallika Sherawat Wiki, Age, Biography, Height, Husband, Family, Images, And More

Mallika Sherawat (born Reema Lamba on October 24, 1976) is an Indian actress who primarily works in Hindi language films. Sherawat has established herself as a sex symbol and one of Bollywood's most popular superstars, thanks to her daring onscreen attitude in films such as Khwahish (2003) and Murder (2004). She then went on to star in the critically acclaimed romantic comedy Pyaar Ke Side Effects (2006).

She has since starred in films such as Aap Ka Suroor, Welcome (both 2007) — her biggest economic hit to date — and Double Dhamaal (2011). With films like Hisss (2010) and Politics of Love (2011), she is one of the few Bollywood actresses attempting to break into Hollywood.

Sherawat was born as Reema Lamba to a Jat family in Moth, a tiny village in Haryana's Hisar district. Mallika was born into the family of Seth Chhaju Ram, a prominent Jat benefactor, and her father is Mukesh Kumar Lamba. To avoid confusion with other actors named Reema, she used the screen name "Mallika," which means "empress." "Sherawat" is the maiden name of her mother. She has mentioned that she uses her mother's maiden name in recognition of her mother's support.

Although she had bad terms with her family when she entered the film industry, Sherawat's family has now embraced her career choice and reunited.

Sherawat attended Mathura Road Delhi Public School. Miranda House, Delhi University, awarded her a degree in philosophy. She said in the early days of her profession that she came from a very traditional small-town family and that she experienced many obstacles from them in pursuing her job. Sherawat's family, on the other hand, has dismissed this as a fabrication put up by her to give her the appearance of a rustic girl who made it big in Bollywood.

Sherawat began her career in television advertisements alongside Amitabh Bachchan for BPL and Shah Rukh Khan for Santro. She also appeared in the music videos "Maar Dala" by Nirmal Pandey and "Lak Tunoo" by Surjit Bindrakhia. She made her cinematic debut in Jeena Sirf Merre Liye, where she was credited as Reema Lamba.

Sherawat rose to prominence after appearing in the 2003 film Khwahish. In 2004, she starred in Murder, a film based on the film Unfaithful. She received praise for her daring performance, with writer Narbir Gosal saying, "she has the chops to pull off a role like this one." Simran is confident and seductive, and she handles her sensitive passages with grace." For her portrayal in Murder, she was nominated for 'Best Actress' at the Zee Cine Awards. The film went on to become one of the year's biggest hits.

Sherawat has since become recognized for publicly expressing her thoughts, as well as for the reactions to some of her utterances.

Sherawat attended the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

Sherawat co-starred with Jackie Chan in the Chinese film The Myth in 2005. She portrayed an Indian girl who saves Chan from a river. Her first international film was The Myth. Her attendance to promote the picture at the Cannes picture Festival drew a lot of attention, with Time magazine's Richard Corliss dubbing her "the next big thing."

Her performance in the 2006 film Pyaar Ke Side Effects, co-starring Rahul Bose, earned her critical acclaim, with critic Raja Sen remarking, "Mallika steals the show with her disarming candour." The film did relatively well at the box office.

Her debut film, Guru, was released in 2007, and she performed the song "Mayya Mayya." She reportedly charged Rs. 15 million for a 10-minute appearance in Himesh Reshammiya's Aap Ka Suroor - The Real Love Story. Her most recent film in 2007 was Welcome, which performed remarkably well at the box office. Her performance was highly praised, with famous cinema reviewer Taran Adarsh stating, "Mallika Sherawat is electrifying."

Ugly Aur Pagli and Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam were her 2008 releases. Both were flops at the box office. Sherawat's next Bollywood release was Double Dhamaal, which was a moderate success at the box office, earning a 'above average' rating from Box Office India. She has appeared in cinema item numbers such as Thank You (Razia Gundon Mein Phas Gayi), Bin Bulaye Baraati (Shalu Ke Thumkey), and Osthe (Kalasala), a Tamil film. She appeared in an item number in Tezz (Laila) in 2012. Sherawat has also appeared in Kismat Love Paisa Dilli, in which she will play a Haryanvi character.

On October 23, 2013, Mallika debuted her reality dating show Bachelorette India - Mere Khayalon ki Mallika, which was inspired by The Bachelorette in order to locate the perfect bachelor for herself.

Sherawat appeared in the 2009 Hollywood film Hisss, directed by Jennifer Lynch and co-starring Irrfan Khan. The film is an independent co-production between the United States and India based on the mythology of Nga. Endeavour Independent purchased Hisss' distribution rights. At the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, Sherawat promoted it with live snakes. On October 22, 2010, Hisss was released in all major Indian languages.

Sherawat also appeared in William Dear's Politics of Love, also known as Love, Barack. Aretha Gupta, a dedicated local Obama volunteer coordinator, is played by her. The film is a romantic comedy set during Barack Obama's presidential campaign in the United States. Sherawat debuted the first trailer for Love, Barack at Cannes in 2010. It came out in 2011.

Sherawat received the Renaissance Artist Award in 2008 at the 16th Annual Diversity Awards in California. Sherawat was granted honorary citizenship of Los Angeles on August 14, 2009, in appreciation of her professional accomplishments and charitable endeavors.

Sherawat appeared alongside American music star Bruno Mars in a parody video of Salt-n-Pepa Whatta Man for the humor website Funny or Die in 2012.

Sherawat married Delhi-based pilot Karan Singh Gill in 1997, during her brief tenure as an air hostess. She eventually divorced him. She kept her marriage hidden since the stigma of divorce would have stifled her progress in Bollywood. In 2017, she dated French real estate agent Cyrille Auxenfans. Sherawat is vegetarian.

Activism

Sherawat has been interested in women's rights activism, speaking about women's concerns at the 65th United Nations DPI/NGO Conference in 2014. Sherawat got herself confined in a cage for twelve hours during the 2018 Cannes Film Festival to support the Free A Girl India NGO.
