Im Soo-jung is a South Korean actress who was born on July 11, 1979. Im made her acting debut in Kim Jee-horror woon's film A Tale of Two Sisters (2003), which was followed by the popular television drama I'm Sorry, I Love You (2004). She has since starred in a number of films, including Park Chan-a wook's I'm Cyborg, But That's OK (2006), Hur Jin-Happiness ho's (2007), Lee Yoon-Come ki's Rain, Come Shine (2011), and Min Kyu-All dong's About My Wife, for which she received the Best Actress award at the 33rd Blue Dragon Film Awards.
Career
Im Soo-jung made her debut as a teen magazine cover model in 1998. She then began acting, making her debut in the teen drama School 4, but it was Kim Jee-2003 woon's stylish horror A Tale of Two Sisters that garnered her critical acclaim and newcomer awards. A year later, she shot to fame with the hit KBS2 drama series I'm Sorry, I Love You. Those projects cemented Iimage m's as an eternal ingenue, as did the touching character study...ing, horse jockey film Lump Sugar, and Park Chan-surrealist wook's I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK.
In recent years, she has begun to shed that image by taking on more mature roles, such as Hur Jin-romantic ho's melodrama Happiness and Choi Dong-blockbuster hoon's fantasy The Taoist Wizard by Jeon Woo-chi, the romantic comedy Finding Mr. Destiny, and Lee Yoon-minimalist ki's breakup indie Come Rain, Come Shine. She won Best Actress at the Blue Dragon Film Awards and Women in Film Korea Awards for her performance in All About My Wife.
In the short film El Fin del Mundo ("The End of the World"), Im and Lee Jung-jae portrayed two artists in a post-apocalyptic environment, which screened at the prestigious contemporary art exhibition dOCUMENTA. She also appeared in Aditya Assarat's short film Phuket, which was commissioned jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Phuket Association of Tourism and Hotel Operators.
Im was previously managed by the SidusHQ agency, but has since been transferred to KeyEast. In June 2012, KeyEast launched her official website. According to the actress, the online space will be a place where she can directly communicate with her fans.
Im appeared in Perfect Proposal, a remake of the British crime thriller Woman of Straw that was partly shot in Macau, in 2015. She then appeared in Time Renegades, a time-traveling romantic thriller in which she played dual roles.
Her contract with KeyEast expired in October 2015, and she decided to join new management firm YNK Entertainment.
Im then starred in Kim Jong-female-centric kwan's indie film The Table, which premiered at the 21st Busan International Film Festival.
Im was cast in the drama Chicago Typewriter alongside Yoo Ah-in in February 2017. This is Ifirst m's appearance on a small screen in thirteen years, since 2004. She was named cultural ambassador for the UK-Korea Creative Futures mutual exchange the same year.
She then returned to the big screen with Mothers, a film based on Lee Dong-book eun's Your Request - My Other Mother, which she also directed.
Im returned to television in 2019 with the series Search: WWW.
Im appeared in the film Single in Seoul with Lee Dong-wook in 2020.
Im co-starred in the tvN drama Melancholia with Lee Do-hyun in 2021.
Im contract with King Kong by Starship expires in August 2022, and I have decided not to renew it.
