Li Xiaolu (Chinese: ; pinyin: L Xiolù, born 30 September 1982) is a Chinese actress and singer better known as Jacqueline Li. She is well recognized for her performance in Joan Chen's directorial debut Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl (1998), the idol drama All the Misfortunes Caused by the Angel (2001), and the famous youth series Struggle. (2007). She was the youngest actress to win the Golden Horse Award for Best Leading Actress at the age of 16.
Li was born into a literary family as a child. Her grandpa worked at August First Film Studios, and her parents were both actors. She made her television debut at the age of three.
Career
Li rose to prominence with the 1998 film Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl, for which she received Best Actress nominations at the Golden Horse Awards, the Paris Film Festival, and the Deauville Asian Film Festival. She was the youngest actress to win the Golden Horse Awards for Best Actress at the age of 17. She went into hiding for the following two years, but was forced back into the spotlight in 2001 with her role in the popular idol drama All the Misfortunes Caused by the Angel. (2001).
Li was named Best Actress at the Romania International Film Festival in 2005 for her portrayal in the Sino-Japanese film About Love.
She co-starred in the youth drama Struggle in 2007. Struggle, based on Shi Kang's renowned novel, received unexpected recognition and was regarded as a milestone in Chinese TV production because it deviated from the customary Chinese TV series centered on ancient legends and series. Her portrayal of the brash and endearing Yang Xiaoyun was a big hit with the audience, propelling her to stardom in China. Because of her popularity, Li was named the "Golden Eagle Goddess" at the China Golden Eagle TV Art Festival, where she performed as the opening act.
Li appeared in the ancient fantasy series Beauty World (2011) in 2011, her first period drama in six years.
Li's subsequent roles in the family dramas My Mom and My Mother-in-Law (2011), AA Lifestyle (2012), and We Love You, Mr. Jin (2012) solidified her reputation in China as the "Nation's Daughter-in-Law." She received the Huading Award for Best Actress for her performance in My Mom and My Mother-in-Law.
In 2013, Li played various characters in the comedy film Personal Tailor, directed by Feng Xiaogang. Personal Tailor was one of the year's highest-grossing films.
Private life
In 2012, Li married actor Jia Nailiang. Jelena, their daughter, was born the same year. Li was reported to have had extramarital affairs and shot three intimate videos with rapper PG One, who was confirmed to be her lover in 2017. Li and Jia separated on November 14, 2019.
