Ksenia Anatolyevna Sobchak (Russian: сени нaтолевна оак, BGN/PCGN: Kseniya Anatol'yevna Sobchak, GOST: Ksenija Anatolevna Sobak; born 5 November 1981) is a Russian public personality, TV anchor, journalist, socialite, and actor. She is the younger daughter of Anatoly Sobchak, the first democratically elected mayor of Saint Petersburg, and Russian senator Lyudmila Narusova. Sobchak rose to prominence as the host of the Russian channel TNT's reality show Dom-2. She then worked as an anchor for the independent television channel Dozhd ("Rain"). She co-hosts the television show Dok-Tok with Alexander Gordon as of January 2023.
Sobchak was the Civic Initiative's presidential candidate in Russia in 2018. She became the youngest Russian presidential contender in history at the age of 36.
Childhood and education
Sobchak is the second daughter of Anatoly Sobchak, the first democratically elected mayor of Saint Petersburg, and Lyudmila Narusova, a Russian politician. Sobchak describes herself as having Jewish ancestors. Sobchak also disclosed that she and her family have faced anti-Semitism.
Sobchak attended the dance school linked to the Mariinsky Theatre as a child, as well as the art school at the Hermitage Museum. Sobchak transferred from Herzen University's school to Saint Petersburg State University's Department of International Relations in 1998. Sobchak moved to Moscow in 2001 to study International Relations at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. On September 13, 2019, Sobchak married theatrical director Konstantin Bogomolov. They arrived in a hearse to their wedding ceremony.
Sobchak stated in 2015 that if she faced political persecution, she would consider emigrating or obtaining an Israeli passport, but would prefer to live in the United States, where she could find a Russian-speaking community: "I'm a very big patriot."
