Career
The main article is: Filmography of Kajal Aggarwal
Film debut and difficulties (2004–08)
Aggarwal made her Bollywood debut in the 2004 film Kyun! Ho Gaya Na..., where she played a minor supporting role.
Aggarwal made her Telugu film debut in 2007, co-starring with Kalyan Ram in Teja's Lakshmi Kalyanam; the film did not perform well at the box office. Later that year, she starred in Krishna Vamsi's Chandamama, which debuted to positive reviews and became her first major success. Perarasu's action comedy Pazhani, co-starring Bharath, was her first Tamil film release in 2008. She had one more Tamil release that year, a guest appearance in Venkat Prabhu's comedy-thriller Saroja. Despite the fact that the film was a commercial and critical success, it did not help her career because her role was too minor. Her Telugu films, Pourudu and Aatadista, starring Sumanth and Nitin, respectively, received mixed reviews but did well at the box office. [Citation required]
Public esteem and critical acclaim (2009–11)
In 2009, Aggarwal had four films released. She made her film debut opposite Vinay Rai in the Tamil film Modhi Vilayadu, which received mixed reviews and was a financial flop. She then starred alongside Ram Charan Teja in the high-budget Telugu historical drama Magadheera, in which she played double roles for the first time. The film, directed by S. S. Rajamouli, received widespread acclaim, with Aggarwal in particular receiving praise for her portrayal of a princess. Aggarwal was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Actress in Telugu and a South Scope Award for Best Telugu Actress for her performance. [Citation required] It was a commercial success, breaking several records and becoming the highest-grossing Telugu film of all time. With the success of Magadheera, Aggarwal became one of the most sought-after actresses in Telugu cinema. It was re-released in Tamil as Maaveeran in 2011 and was also a box office success. Her subsequent films, Ganesh Just Ganesh, opposite Ram, and Arya 2 opposite Allu Arjun, received mixed reviews from critics, but her performance received praise.
Aggarwal's first 2010 release was A. Karunakaran's romantic comedy Darling, which starred her alongside Prabhas and was a commercial success at the box office, earning Kajal her second Filmfare nomination for Best Actress. Later that year, Aggarwal co-starred with Karthi in the Tamil thriller film Naan Mahaan Alla, which was based on a true story and received positive reviews. It was a box office hit. Karthi and Aggarwal's chemistry was widely praised. [Citation required] It was later renamed Naa Peru Siva in Telugu and became a success in Andhra Pradesh. Aggarwal's final film in 2010 was Brindavanam, a romantic comedy starring Jr. NTR and Samantha that received critical acclaim and went on to become a commercial success, earning Aggarwal the CineMAA Award for Best Actress.
Aggarwal starred alongside Prabhas for the second time in Dasaradh's romantic comedy Mr. Perfect in 2011. The film was both critically and commercially successful. Critics praised Aggarwal's performance as a conservative doctor and her chemistry with Prabhas. For her performance, Aggarwal received her third Filmfare nomination for Best Actress in Telugu. In May, she replaced Anushka Shetty in Veera, starring opposite Ravi Teja for the first time. The movie received mixed reviews.
In July of that year, Aggarwal made her Bollywood comeback after seven years with a leading role in Singham, a remake of the 2010 Tamil film of the same name, opposite Ajay Devgn. Critics gave it mixed reviews, as did her portrayal of a Goan girl, Kavya Bhosle, with some claiming that Aggarwal didn't have much to offer in the hero-centric film. Komal Nahta mentioned "Kaajal Aggarwal performs with effortless grace. Her performance is good," according to Variety, while Filmfare stated that "Kajal, who looks pretty and has done what she was told to do, but probably deserved a meatier debut." ". Nonetheless, the film was a box office success. For her performance, she was nominated for two awards: the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut and the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut. Aggarwal wrapped up 2011 with the Telugu film Dhada, which he co-starred in with Naga Chaitanya and bombed at the box office. [Citation required]
Commercial achievement (2012–14)
In early 2012, Aggarwal co-starred with Mahesh Babu in the Telugu gangster film Businessman, directed by Puri Jagannadh. It was a Sankranthi release that received positive reviews and commercial success. Critics praised Aggarwal's performance, despite its limitations.
Later that year, Aggarwal returned to Tamil cinema with two high-profile action films. Maattrraan, directed by K. V. Anand and starring Suriya, was the first. Critics gave the film mixed to positive reviews. Her performance was well received, as summarised by The Indian Express: "Anjali, the foreign language translator, is done with the utmost sincerity by Kajal. This characteristic, along with her graceful demeanour, makes Kajal a pleasure to watch ".
I prefer the Telugu film industry because women are more respected than in the Tamil film industry. They only care about their hero in Tamil cinema. Of course, I don't give a damn and go sit in my van Aggarwal about the differences she noticed between the Telugu and Tamil industries.
The second was A. R. Murugadoss's Thuppakki, in which she played a boxer and starred alongside Vijay. It received mostly positive reviews from critics and was a huge commercial success, becoming only the second Tamil film ever to gross more than a billion rupees (US$13 million). Sarocharu, a Telugu romance film starring Ravi Teja for the second time, was her final release in 2012. Although critics praised her performance, the film received negative reviews and performed poorly at the box office.
In early 2013, Aggarwal co-starred with Ram Charan Teja and Amala Paul in V. V. Vinayak's action film Naayak. It received positive reviews and was a huge commercial success upon its initial release. She also appeared in the Hindi film Special 26, a heist drama directed by Neeraj Pandey, that same year. It was a huge critical and commercial success.
She later co-starred with Jr. NTR in Srinu Vaitla's Baadshah for the second time in her career. Critics praised her performance when it was released. According to the Times of India: "Kajal is beautiful as usual. She had a good role and delivered an excellent performance. She also looks stunning in the songs." The movie was a commercial success. Her final film in 2013 was All in All Azhagu Raja, starring Karthi and released on Diwali to mixed reviews from critics.
Aggarwal appeared as a police officer in R. T. Neason's masala film Jilla in early 2014. She then appeared as a cameo in the Telugu action thriller film Yevadu. Krishna Vamsi's family drama Govindudu Andarivadele, which was released in October to positive reviews, was her next release. It earned 417 million rupees (US$5.2 million) at the box office, making it one of the highest-grossing Telugu films of 2014. (2015–present)
Aggarwal made his 2015 debut in the Telugu action film Temper, directed by Puri Jagannadh and starring alongside NTR Jr. The film received favourable reviews from critics and was a box office success. "Despite her limited role, the actress does well," a critic from The Times of India said of Aggarwal's performance.
She then appeared in two Tamil films, collaborating with industry heavyweights such as actors and directors. She appeared as an entrepreneur in Balaji Mohan's gangster comedy film Maari, opposite Dhanush, in July 2015. Critics rated it as a "regular masala movie" and Rediff noted: "Kajal Aggarwal does have a significant role to play, but their onscreen chemistry just does not work". The movie was a commercial success. Her other film, Suseenthiran's action film Paayum Puli, in which she co-starred with Vishal, received mixed reviews and bombed at the box office. Reviewers panned her character, saying she was "badly written and has nothing to do with the script." She also appeared in the bilingual romantic comedy film Size Zero as a cameo.
Aggarwal appeared in two high-profile Telugu films in 2016. In the masala film Sardaar Gabbar Singh, directed by K. S. Ravindra, she played the lead female role, marking her first collaboration with Pawan Kalyan. The film received mixed to negative reviews, despite Aggarwal's strong performance. According to a Deccan Chronicle reviewer: "Kajal Aggarwal plays the perfect princess and looks stunning. In fact, she is the film's breath of fresh air ". Worldwide, the film grossed $900 million (US$11 million). Her second Telugu release, opposite Mahesh Babu, was Srikanth Addala's family drama Brahmotsavam, which was a critical and commercial flop. Despite having limited screen time, her performance as a "new age girl" was well received among the female leads. She then co-starred in the romantic drama Hindi film Do Lafzon Ki Kahani with Randeep Hooda. The movie received mixed reviews.
In April 2016, she agreed to star in another Telugu film directed by Teja, opposite Rana Daggubati. In June 2016, she signed on to star in Vivegam alongside Ajith Kumar. In July 2016, she signed on to star in the Telugu film Khaidi No. 150 alongside Chiranjeevi for the first time.
She signed on to perform her first item number in Koratala Siva's Janatha Garage, starring Mohanlal, Jr NTR, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Nithya Menen, in late July 2016. The song was shot in the middle of August of 2016. The song, "Pakka Local," was well received by the audience. The much-delayed Hindi film Final Cut of Director, which was supposed to be her lead debut, was released in October 2016. The film was dubbed in Tamil and released as Bommalattam eight years earlier. Her next film, Kavalai Vendam, received mixed to positive reviews, but critics praised her performance. In December 2016, she signed on to star in Vijay 61 alongside Vijay.
Aggarwal's first film in 2017 was the Telugu-language action drama Khaidi No. 150, in which he co-starred with Chiranjeevi. [Citation required] In a poll conducted by the Hyderabad Times in January 2017, she was voted the Most Desirable Woman of 2016. She starred in the 2017 political drama Nene Raju. Nene Mantri plays Radha Jogendhra, a devoted wife who provides moral support to Rana Daggubati's character. Her performance was praised by critics. She then played Yazhini Kumar, a music teacher and the loving wife of a spy, in the spy action film Vivegam. Critics praised her performance once more. She then played a doctor in Atlee's Mersal, appearing alongside Vijay for the third time in her career. Her performance received positive reviews, and the film became one of the highest grossing Tamil films of 2017. Mersal went on to become a member of the $2 billion club.
Aggarwal had a leading role in the Telugu film MLA in 2018. In April 2018, she agreed to star in a Telugu film alongside Ravi Teja, marking her third collaboration with the actor. She also appeared in Awe, playing a troubled woman. Aggarwal was later cast in Kavacham.
