Jyothika left the industry at the height of her career, marrying Tamil actor Suriya on September 11, 2006, after being in a relationship with him for several years and appearing in seven films with him.
Jyothika made a comeback in the film 36 Vayadhinile (2015), where her performance received positive feedback and earned her the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress - South. She played a pivotal role in Pachaikili Muthucharam (2007) and delivered an unforgettable performance.
