Jung So-min (born March 16, 1989 as Kim Yoon-ji) is a South Korean actress. In 2010, she made her acting debut in the television series Bad Guy as a supporting character. She is best known for her lead role in the 2010 Korean adaptation of the popular manga Itazura na Kiss, Playful Kiss. Jung is also well-known for her roles in My Father Is Strange, Because This Is My First Life, The Smile Has Left Your Eyes, Soul Mechanic, and Alchemy of Souls, as well as the film Twenty.

Career

Jung first gained attention when she appeared as a supporting character in the television series Bad Guy in 2010. This led to her next project, Playful Kiss, a Korean adaptation of the popular manga Itazura na Kiss. Despite receiving low ratings in Korea, the romantic comedy was well received abroad, raising Jung's profile even further.

Jung then took a brief hiatus in 2011 to focus on her studies at Korea National University of Arts. She returned to television in 2012 as a member of the ensemble cast of the sitcom Standby. Later that year, she starred in the cable series Can We Get Married? alongside Sung Joon in a more mature role.
In 2013, Jung left her talent agency Bloom Entertainment to join SM Culture & Contents. She then appeared in the single-episode anthology Drama Special Came to Me and Became a Star.

Jung appeared in Big Man in 2014 as a self-centered heiress who falls for the protagonist (Kang Ji-hwan). In 2015, he played a supporting role in the coming-of-age film Twenty, as well as a leading role in the horror-romance film D-Day, a disaster-medical drama, and Alice: Boy from Wonderland.
In 2016, Jung appeared in the drama special The Red Teacher. In December of that year, she was cast as the female lead in The Sound of Your Heart, opposite Lee Kwang-soo. The web drama was a hit in China, with over 100 million views on Sohu.

Jung was cast in the KBS weekend family drama My Father is Strange in 2017. She also co-starred with veteran actor Yoon Je-moon in the body-swap comedy Daddy You, Daughter Me. In June, she left SM Culture & Contents and signed with new management firm Jellyfish Entertainment. She confirmed her role as Lee Min-ki in tvN's romantic comedy series Because This Is My First Life in August. She also released an OST for the drama, "Because You Are Beside Me," in support of the film.

Jung was cast as the lead in the 2018 film The Smile Has Left Your Eyes. This is a remake of the 2002 Japanese television series Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi, for which she also recorded an OST called "Star" with her co-star Seo In-guk. She was cast in the historical comedy film Homme Fatale the same year. She ended 2018 with her first radio show, Jung So Min's Young Street on SBS Power FM, fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming a radio DJ.

Jung left Jellyfish Entertainment in August 2019 to join Blossom Entertainment, another management company. She later joined the cast of the healing variety show Little Forest, which is intended to be a home kids garden development project for children. She left her DJ job on Jung So Min's Young Street in December.

Jung co-starred in the medical drama Soul Mechanic with Shin Ha-kyun in 2020, playing a musical rising star with terrible anger management issues.
In 2021, she appeared as the woman who once loved protagonist Jang Ki-yong in Park Joon-fantasy hwa's romantic comedy My Roommate Is a Gumiho. She also appeared as an editor of the lifestyle magazine 'Monthly House' in the TV romance drama Monthly Magazine Home, alongside Kim Ji-seok.
Jung returned to the small screen in 2022 with the tvN period fantasy drama Alchemy of Souls, in which she co-starred with Lee Jae-wook as a skilled assassin whose soul is trapped inside the body of a servant girl. Jung signed with TH Company in August. Jung returned to the big screen for the first time in three years in September with the sci-fi film Project Wolf Hunting.
