Jung Ryeo-won Wiki, Age, Biography, Height, Boyfriend, Family, Images, And More
Jung Ryeo-won (born January 21, 1981) is an Australian actress of South Korean origin. She began her career as a singer in the now-defunct girl group Chakra, and rose to prominence in the hit television series My Name Is Kim Sam-soon. Her other film credits include Two Faces of My Girlfriend, Castaway on the Moon, Wok of Love, and History of a Salaryman.
Early years
Jung Ryeo-won, the second of three children, was born in 1981 and immigrated to Brisbane, Australia with her family in 1992. She faced discrimination in elementary school, which inspired her to become fluent in English. She had adapted to the Australian way of life by junior high school. She graduated from Griffith University with a major in international business after attending MacGregor State High School.
Career
Chakra 2000-2006:
Jung was discovered on the streets of Apgujeong by Lee Sang-min while she was an exchange student at Korea University from Griffith University in the 2000s, changing her life and career path. She was a member of the K-pop girl group Chakra, which also included Eeni, Eun, and Hwangbo; their debut album was released in 2000. Jung's morale was low in 2002, when she admitted to feeling alienated from her fellow Koreans and uneasy in the sexy clothes she was forced to wear as a singer.
Chakra disbanded in 2004, and Jung pursued acting full-time from 2006 to 2012. She said she began to doubt her decision to become an actress after 11 unsuccessful auditions that year. She rose to prominence in the cult vampire sitcom Hello Franceska in 2005, and then made her breakthrough in the romantic comedy My Name Is Kim Sam-soon. The series was a huge success, with average ratings of more than 37% and a finale rating of 50.5%. Jung was praised for her portrayal of a fragile but good-natured character who fights for the hero's love, and she went on to become one of the country's few successful singer-turned-actors.
Autumn Shower, her follow-up series, received low ratings, but she rebounded with Which Star Are You From?, in which she played a country bumpkin living in Gangwon Province's mountains. She had her first leading role as a girl with multiple personality disorder in 2007's Two Faces of My Girlfriend, which was not a box office success but earned her Best New Actress at the Blue Dragon Film Awards.
Jung made her film debut as the title character in Princess Jamyung in 2009. She then starred as a hikikomori in Castaway on the Moon, arguably her most well-known film to date.
Both of her big-screen projects in 2011 featured romantic elements. In the war comedy/drama In Love and War, she played a teacher in a small South Korean village who meets a North Korean officer, and in Kwak Kyung-melodrama taek's She played a haemophiliac who falls for her polar opposite, a man with analgesia, or the inability to perceive physical pain.
Jung began 2012 as the heroine in the oddball series History of a Salaryman. She delivered a fun, no-holds-barred performance as a red-haired, constantly swearing, selfish, reckless rich snob, but injected heart and raw emotion into a character that could've otherwise been very unlikable. Her performance wowed critics and audiences alike, and her series took the top spot on the Monday and Tuesday primetime ratings lineups, while she later won a Top Excellence Award at the SBS Drama Awards.
She went on to star in Never Ending Story, a romantic comedy about two people who are diagnosed with terminal illnesses and decide to spend their remaining time together preparing for death. Jung's contract with Won Entertainment expired in June 2012, and she signed with Bae Yong-agency, joon's KeyEast. Later that year, in The King of Dramas, she portrayed an idealistic screenwriter.
From 2013 to 2017, there was an acting setback.
Jung launched her official website in January 2013, with the goal of connecting with her fans. Messages from the actress can be found under the "From rw" section. She then starred alongside Pained co-star Kwon Sang-woo in the medical drama Medical Top Team as a charismatic and ambitious thoracic surgeon.
Jung then appeared in the 2015 cable series Bubble Gum as an impatient and careless radio producer; she and co-star Lee Dong-wook previously appeared together in the 2003 sitcom Do the Right Thing. In 2017, she starred in Witch at Court, a legal procedural drama, as a highly ambitious prosecutor who speaks her mind and is known for her aggressive investigation tactics. At the 2017 KBS Drama Awards, she received the Top Excellence Award for her performance.
