"Causeway," starring Jennifer Lawrence and Brian Tyree Henry (who you may recognise as Lemon from "Bullet Train") as two bereaved people who seek comfort in each other and develop a strong but turbulent bond, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
In the movie, Lawrence plays Lynsey, a US Army Corps of Engineers member who sustains a serious injury while serving in Afghanistan. Lynsey faces difficulties adjusting to regular civilian life. Henry portrays James, a "good-natured mechanic" who is dealing with his own trauma from the past. According to the official TIFF synopsis, "Each finds solace in the other but, as their friendship develops, Lynsey is forced to question whether she has it in her to give and accept love."
With two of the best actors in the business, this is a serious adult drama. And now, a trailer for the film has surfaced online ahead of its November launch on Apple TV+.
The Film's New Orleans Locations Are Highlighted in the Trailer
"Causeway," directed by Lila Neugebauer, who is making her feature film directorial debut with the work, is set and shot in New Orleans. Any filmmaker would consider New Orleans to be a gift, and the trailer shows some of the surreal imagery that hopefully defines the film.
The work of renowned production designer Jack Fisk, who is known for his work with acclaimed directors like Terrence Malick, Brian De Palma, and David Lynch, is featured in the film, which might interest movie enthusiasts. A quick glance at his IMDb profile reveals that his involvement in this film is unquestionably something to be excited about.
The star of "Causeway," however, is Jennifer Lawrence, who was most recently seen with Leonardo DiCaprio in the global warming satire "Don't Look Up." She and co-star Brian Tyree Henry will be able to really flex their dramatic acting chops in this movie, which promises to be a smaller, more personal production.
The "Causeway" trailer can be seen above. The movie will premiere on Apple TV+ on November 4, 2022.
