Indian model and actress Gauahar Khan, who was born on August 23, 1983, is seen in Hindi-language movies and on television. She entered the 2002 Femina Miss India pageant as a model to begin her career.
Khan made her acting debut with Yash Raj Films' Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year after making appearances in dance songs. (2009). Later, Khan appeared in movies including the 2011 action thriller Game, the 2012 vengeance drama Ishaqzaade, the 2016 suspense thriller Fever, the 2017 romantic comedy Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and the Indian historical drama Begum Jaan. (2017).
She took part in Season 7 of Bigg Boss in 2013 and won.
Early life
Khan was born on August 23, 1983, to Muslim parents Zafar and Razia Khan in Pune, Maharashtra. She received her education from Pune's Mount Carmel Convent School. She is the actress Nigaar Khan's sister and the youngest of five siblings.
Career
Khan's career began as a model. She competed in the Femina Miss India pageant in 2002 when she was 18 years old, finishing fourth and taking home the Miss Talented award. She competed in the Miss International pageant later that year as India's representative. Khan played a supporting role as a model participant in the film Miss India: The Mystery.
She made an appearance in a few music videos, one of which, Bombay Vikings' "Hawa Mein Udati Jaaye," gained enormous popularity. She served as the host of Zoom Television's Page 3 movie gossip program. containing the release of Aan: Men at Work and Shankar Dada M.B.B.S., a Telugu movie containing item numbers, Khan made her Bollywood debut in 2004.
She took part in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 3, a celebrity dance reality competition on Sony TV, in February 2009, and finished as the first runner up. In Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year, a 2009 Yash Raj Films film, she made her acting debut. Gauahar was a stylish, aspirational, and astute receptionist who made a memorable Koena in the movie, according to Anupama Chopra. Khan made an appearance in the item song "Parda" from Ekta Kapoor's Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai in 2010.
Khan next made an appearance in the action film Game as the outspoken and rebellious Samara Shroff. (2011). According to NDTV, Gauhar is "nicely dressed" in her capacity as Samara's devoted secretary. Gauahar Khan during that year participated in The Khan Sisters, a reality series, alongside her sister Nigaar Khan. In the 2012 love movie Ishaqzaade, Khan played Chand Bibi. She also made appearances in the item songs "Jhalla Walla" and "Chokra Jawaan." According to Shomini Sen of Zee News, Gauahar "sizzles in two songs as a kind-hearted prostitute Chand. It is unfortunate that she is featured in the movie so little. Gauahar is attractive in a specific capacity, according to Taran Adarsh. She dances beautifully in both of the tracks, too.
Khan entered the seventh season of Colors TV's reality series Bigg Boss, the Indian equivalent of the reality TV program Big Brother, as a celebrity competitor in 2013. Khan left because Kushal Tandon, her lover, was asked to leave after hitting VJ Andy. She visited the home the next day. In December 2013, she defeated actress Tanishaa Mukerji to win.
Together with Kushal Tandon, Khan took part in the stunt show Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi in its Fifth Season on Colors TV in May 2014.
Later on, she served as a coach on the reality program Ticket to Bollywood. India's Raw Star, a singing reality series on Star Plus, was presented by Khan in September 2014. A viewer who reprimanded Khan for wearing a short dress on November 30, 2014, during the filming of the singing reality program India's Raw Star hit her. Akil Malik, 24, was detained by police after he attacked the actress at the show's Mumbai studio. According to what the man said, Khan "should not have worn such a short dress being a Muslim woman." After that, on December 1, 2014, he was presented in court.
With the Punjabi film Oh Yaara Ainvayi Ainvayi Lut Gaya, which starred Jassie Gill as Gunjan Kaur, Khan made her acting debut. In Zee TV's I Can Do That in October 2015, Khan took part and was paired with Bani J. Rithvik Dhanjani won the competition, with Khan finishing as the first runner-up. Khan began the year with making an appearance in the item song "Jawani Le Doobi" from Ekta Kapoor's Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 in January. Khan was one of the key characters in Ravi Agrawal's Fever, which also starred Rajeev Khandelwal and Gemma Atkinson as Kavya, in August 2016. However, the August release of the movie did poorly at the box office. In the movie Fuddu's item song, performed by Jasmine Sandlas, in October 2016, Khan made an appearance.
Khan made an appearance in the 2017 sequel to Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, directed by Karan Johar and starring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt as Laxmi, titled Badrinath Ki Dulhania. The movie came out in March. Khan co-starred with Vidya Balan in the movie Begum Jaan in April 2017. Khan played a role in Tera Intezaar in December 2017. She played Gulabi in the 2018 film Nine Hours in Mumbai.
Khan made an appearance in The Office, an Indian adaption of the popular BBC sitcom of the same name, in June 2019. On June 28, 2019, the program became live on the streaming provider Hotstar. The character played by Gauhar is Riya Pahwa, the boss of Jagadeep Chadda, the main character. Khan appeared in the web series Parchayee later that year.
She made a comeback to Bigg Boss in 2020, joining Hina Khan and Sidharth Shukla for the first three weeks of the show's fourteenth season as a toofani senior. Gauahar portrayed Maithili Sharan in the Amazon online series Tandav in 2021.
Personal life
In 2013, Khan was dating Kushal Tandon, a participant on Bigg Boss 7, but the couple eventually parted up.
She became engaged to Zaid Darbar, an actor and the son of music director Ismail Darbar, in November 2020. On December 25 of the same year, the two were wed. She announced the couple's impending pregnancy on her Instagram account on December 20, 2022.
