Esra Bilgiç (Turkish pronunciation: [esa bilit]; born 14 October 1992) is a Turkish actress. From 2014 to 2018, she was best known for her role as Halime Hatun in the Turkish historical adventure television series Diriliş: Erturul. She appeared in the 2020-2021 crime drama Ramo, among other things.
Career
Bilgiç was born in Ankara, Turkey on October 14, 1992. She made her television debut in 2014, alongside co-stars Engin Düzyatan and Hülya Darcan, in the Turkish historical adventure series Diriliş: Erturul on TRT 1. The series' plot revolves around the life of Erturul Bey, the father of Ottoman dynasty founder Osman Bey. Bilgiç played Halime Hatun, Osman's mother, but left in 2018 due to changes in the new season.
In Bir Umut Yeter [tr], she co-starred with Tolgahan Sayşman and Hazal Subaş. Bilgiç appeared in the Turkish film Adanş Kutsal Kavga in 2020, alongside co-star smail Filiz. She co-stars with Murat Yldrm in the Turkish crime drama television series Ramo as the female lead. Bilgiç's popularity in Pakistan has led to her appointment as brand ambassador for the Pakistani cricket team Peshawar Zalmi, consumer electronics company QMobile, and mobile network provider Jazz in 2020.
She co-starred with actor Uur Güneş in the period drama Kanunsuz Topraklar [tr] from September 2021 to February 2022. Due to low ratings, the show was cancelled after 16 episodes.
Bilgiç appeared in a Victoria's Secret commercial for the "Love Cloud" collection in March 2022.
Private life
Bilgiç began dating professional Turkish footballer Gökhan Töre in 2014. The couple married on October 21, 2017, and divorced on June 17, 2019. The wedding was attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoan and First Lady Emine Erdoan.
After the Taliban took over Afghanistan in August 2021, Bilgiç retweeted messages with hashtags like "I don't want refugees in my country" and "I don't want Afghans here." She later took down the retweets. The original tweets were labelled "hateful" by Dawn.
