Elçin Sangu (born August 13, 1985) is a Turkish model and actress of Circassian descent. She has become one of Turkey's highest-paid celebrities thanks to her appearances in television commercials and campaigns.
Sangu is best known as Defne in the Star TV romantic comedy series Kiralk Aşk (2015–2017). She has been nominated for and received numerous awards in Turkey for her work, including three Golden Butterfly Awards. Sangu has also appeared in the television series Aşk Kaç Beden Giyer (2012-2013), Bir Aşk Hikâyesi (2013-2014), Kurt Seyit ve ura (2014), and Sevdam Alabora (2015).
Life and work
Elçin Sangu was born on August 13, 1985, as the only child of an ethnic Circassian family from zmir on Turkey's western coast. She graduated from Mersin University's Opera Department and studied acting at the Sahne Tozu Theatre.
She was cast as Jale in the Kanal D drama series yle Bir Geçer Zaman ki in 2011, where she also sang and played the piano. She starred as Nehir in Aşk Kaç Beden Giyer from 2012 to 2013. She played Eda in Bir Aşk Hikâyesi, an adaptation of the South Korean television series I'm Sorry, I Love You, from 2013 to 2014. She portrayed Güzide in the historical drama series Kurt Seyit ve ura, which was shot in Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine in 2014. Following another leading role in the aTV series Sevdam Alabora in 2015, she began acting in Kiralk Aşk the following year. In 2016, she was named the face of Sunsilk and Boyner care products.
Kiralk Aşk, a popular romantic comedy series, aired on Star TV until its conclusion in January 2017. Her performance in the series was praised by critics. In 2017, it was reported that Sangu would appear in a Kanal D news series. Sangu and Barş Arduç were cast in the film Mutluluk Zaman (previously titled Yanmda Kal and Gitme Sen!) in August of the same year.
Private life
Sangu has been in a relationship with Yunus zdiken, who works at a private firm outside of the arts and entertainment industry, since 2011.
According to a variety of polls, Sangu was voted the second most popular actress in Turkey in 2016. She is the tenth most followed Turkish celebrity on Instagram as of September 2016.
