Yekaterina Konstantinovna Guseva (born 9 July 1976) is a Russian film, stage, and television actress and singer, and a Meritorious Artist of Russia. She rose to prominence after appearing in the 2002 television series Brigada.
Early years
Guseva's father used to play the violin, and it is his violin that is shown in the series Brigada. Nastya, her younger sister, works as a methodologist in a kindergarten.
She was already a member of the Soviet Union's representative team's modern gymnastics resource group by the age of four. She also attempted swimming and figure skating. Katya was a member of the Georgian dance ensemble Kolkhida for seven years before graduating from high school and was able to perform at the Bolshoi.
She was intending to attend the Moscow Biotechnology Institute when she was approached by an assistant to theatre director Evgeny Simonov, who advised she apply to the V.V. Shukina Performing Arts College. She gave it a shot, studied for the entry exam for three days, and passed with flying colors.
Life and work
Yekaterina appeared in Nikolai Lebedev's film Snake Spring after graduating in 1997. Mark Rozovsky then invited her to his theater "Nikitsky Gate." After four years at Rozovsky Theater, she was cast as Katya Tatarinova in Alexei Ivashchenko and Georgi Vasiliev's musical Nord-Ost. Yekaterina rose to prominence during the filming of "Nord-Ost" by playing a big role in the popular Russian crime serial Brigada. During the terrorist attack on the theater in October 2002, she had the day off. She has been working with Mossovet Theatre since 2003.
Yekaterina delivers songs as a solo vocalist and alongside Leonid Serebrennikov and others, in addition to appearing in many popular Russian films. In 2007, she launched her debut solo music CD album.
Family
Yekaterina Guseva is married to Vladimir Abashkin, a businessman. They have two kids.
