Eiza González Reyna is a Mexican actress and singer who was born on January 30, 1990. She first rose to fame in the 2007–2008 Mexican musical melodrama Lola, érase una vez as Lola Valente, and later played the primary character of Clara Molina in the 2010–2011 Nickelodeon teen drama Suea conmigo. She is also well-known for her roles as Monica "Darling" Castello in the crime action movie Baby Driver (2017), Santanico Pandemonium in the American horror series From Dusk till Dawn: The Series (2014–2016), Nyssiana in the cyberpunk action movie Alita: Battle Angel (2019), KT in Bloodshot (2020), and paramedic Cam Thompson in Ambulance.
Early Life and Education
González, the lone child of former model Glenda Reyna and Carlos González, was born on January 30, 1990, in Mexico City. When she was 12 years old, her father perished in a motorbike accident; she has stated that her father's passing had a significant impact on her career. One of her brothers is 12 years older than she is.
She studied at the American School Foundation and Edron Academy, two private multilingual institutions in Mexico City. Before being selected as the lead in the teenage-focused telenovela Lola...Érase una vez in 2007, she had completed two of a three-year course at Televisa's acting school, Centro de Educación Artstica. She was just 16 years old at the time.
Career
From 2003 to 2004, González studied acting at the M&M Studio, a renowned actress Patricia Reyes Spndola's acting school in Mexico City. She got accepted at the age of 14 into Centro de Educación Artstica, Televisa's renowned acting institute in Mexico City. She was initially noticed by producer and director Pedro Damián, who is most known for his success with the Latin pop band RBD, when she was attending school.
Two years later, Damian hired González to star in a new version of the well-known children's telenovela Floricienta from Argentina. In Lola, érase uno vez, she played Lola Valente, the main female heroine. The show started filming in late 2006, and on February 26th, 2007, it made its debut in Mexico. Later, it was broadcast in a number of Latin American nations as well as the US. After Lola, érase una vez was finished, González briefly relocated to New York City with her mother in the spring of 2008 so she could take a three-month acting course at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. Early in the following year's autumn, she made her way back to Mexico City.
She was chosen to play a supporting role in an episode of the second season of the well-known crime thriller Mujeres Asesinas in April 2009. She played the adolescent antagonist Gaby in the episode "Tere, Desconfiada" alongside Mexican actress Susana González. González claims that she was informed of the casting call while she was getting ready to record Contracorriente, her debut solo album.
González plays the roles of Clara Molina and Roxy Pop in the teen comedy Suea conmigo, which premiered on Nickelodeon in 2010. González travelled to Buenos Aires to shoot in April 2010 for the part. She spent a year in Buenos Aires, occasionally returning to Mexico City while the television show was being made. Gonzalez went back to Mexico City when the February 2011 season of the movie was over. The programme, which was created by Nickelodeon and Televisa, premiered on July 20, 2010, throughout Europe and Latin America. The cast gave a number of concerts in Argentina from March to July 2011 as a result of its popularity there.
González starred in Alejandro Sugich's comedy-drama Casi 30 in 2012. González portrays Cristina, a ballet student of 18 who falls in love with Emilio, the main character of the movie. González makes his cinematic acting debut with this picture. The film had its debut in Mexico in 2013 at a number of film festivals, but on August 22, 2014, it was released in theatres across the country.
A replica of the TV Azteca television series Amor en custodia, González appeared in the Televisa series Amores verdaderos in 2012. The programme debuted on September 3, 2012. González was initially offered the lead part of Sofa López-Haro in the Mexican adaptation of the popular American television series Gossip Girl, Gossip Girl: Acapulco, produced by Mexican producer Pedro Torres. González debated taking the part but decided against it because of her demanding Amores verdaderos filming schedule.
González relocated to Los Angeles in the latter part of August 2013 to further her acting career. All Hail the Squash Blossom Queen, directed by Adrian Cervantes, cast González in September 2013. González was supposed to play Brittany in the movie, which was supposed to star Bonnie Wright from the Harry Potter film series, but she was eventually fired from the project after the part was replaced in 2015.
González was revealed in November 2013 as a cast member of From Dusk till Dawn: The Series, a television project from director Robert Rodriguez. González took up the character of Santanico Pandemonium, which Salma Hayek performed in the first movie. González's first English-language role, she was also prominently featured in the series' print marketing. Rodriguez created the programme for his El Rey network. González moved to Austin, Texas, to shoot the first season of the show. After its U.S. premiere, the programme was made accessible for international Netflix viewing in the UK, Canada, Australia, Europe, and Latin America. The show was given a second season on El Rey on March 26, 2014.
She presided over the MTV Millennial Awards ceremony on August 12 at the World Trade Centre Mexico City in Mexico City. González and the From Dusk till Dawn: The Series cast headed back to Austin, Texas, in March 2015 to start shooting the show's second season.
Since 2015, González has been cast in a number of noteworthy roles, including those of Darling in Baby Driver (2017), Madame M in Hobbs & Shaw (2019), Nyssiana in the cyberpunk movie Alita: Battle Angel (2019), Fran in I Care a Lot (2020), KT in Bloodshot (2020), and KT alongside Vin Diesel in Bloodshot. She also played the paramedic Cam Thompson opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in Michael Bay's Ambulance.
Future projects include González's appearance as "an artist and influencer" in Scott Z. Burns' climate change-themed anthology series Extrapolations on Apple TV+. She was chosen to star opposite Henry Cavill in Guy Ritchie's The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and David Benioff and D.B. Weiss' The Three-Body Problem Netflix series adaption.
Other Initiatives
González has served as the face of many companies. González was selected as the new Colour Trend face of the Avon cosmetics line in Mexico in 2008. She starred in commercials for the Asepxia skincare line in 2009. In February 2015, she was introduced as the newest brand ambassador for the skincare label Neutrogena. To advance the company, she shot commercials in both Spanish and English.
González acquired a contract with EMI Televisa in late 2008 to create a solo album after the popularity of her first performance in Lola, érase uno vez. González's debut album, Contracorriente, or Counter-current in English, was pre-produced and recorded in Los Angeles, Texas, and Mexico City beginning in the autumn of 2008. The album was released on November 24 in Mexico. It was made available in the US on January 26, 2010. On October 20, 2009, the song "Mi destino soy yo" was made available in Mexico. She appeared in televised music festivals and concerts across Mexico to promote the single. González was unable to embark on a lengthier tour for the record or release a second single due to the Suea conmigo musical tour in Argentina.
González declared in June 2011 that she will concentrate on the creation and recording of her second solo album. She also disclosed that she would devote the rest of the year to creating new music and wouldn't start working on films or TV shows again until the album was finished. In the first months of 2012, she finished creating her second album. The album was made in the Dominican Republic, Texas, and Mexico City.
Te Acordarás de M, the lead song from her second album, was made available for digital download on iTunes on April 16 in Mexico and May 22 in the United States. González, Alejandra Alberti, and Carlos Lara collaborated on the song in Mexico City. The album, which is also known as Te Acordarás de M, was made available on June 12, 2012, in both physical and digital form in Mexico, as well as on iTunes in the United States. There are 12 songs on the album, and González co-wrote three of them. Te Acordarás de M made its debut on the Mexican charts at position 66. It was revealed that "Invisible" would be the second single, and on August 1st, 2012, it was made available on Mexican radio.
Personal Life
González was a Los Angeles resident as of the end of August 2013. She admitted in September 2015 that the loss of her father caused her to experience sadness and compulsive overeating from the age of 15 to 20.
