Early Years
Chloe Celeste Hosterman was born on January 15, 1996, in Bainbridge Island, Washington, to later-divorced parents Philip Alan Hosterman and Bonnie Wallace. Claire Hosterman is her elder sister. Cameron went to Sakai Intermediate School when she was young. She started performing in local theatre at Bainbridge Performing Arts when she was eight years old. After her family relocated to Los Angeles, California, six years later, she joined Burbank High School's National Championship Show Choir and began singing there.
According to Cameron, who also speaks a little French, she is of French ancestry. Additionally, she has Hungarian, Slovak, and Russian ancestry. From fifth grade until the conclusion of high school, she claims that she was bullied the entire time she attended school. Cameron maintained her focus on her aspirations of becoming successful in the entertainment industry despite the pressures of school and fitting in: "I became very passionate about [becoming an actress and singer]." I submerged myself completely. She was 15 when her father passed away in 2011. Cameron took the name Dove legally after her father's passing in memory of him and the nickname he gave her.
Career 2007–2015: Significant advancement with Disney Channel
In the Bainbridge Performing Arts (BPA) stage production of Les Misérables in 2007, Cameron played the part of Young Cosette. In The Secret Garden, also with BPA, in 2008, she played the title role of Mary. Cameron received a casting call for the character of Alanna in the Disney Channel comedy series Bits and Pieces in 2012. Bits and Pieces was quickly transformed into Liv and Maddie after the pilot was completed, with Cameron playing the dual lead roles of Liv and Maddie Rooney. The series began on September 15, 2013, after the promo debuted on July 19. 5.8 million people watched the pilot episode, which was the most viewers overall in the 2.5 years since Shake It Up! The second season of Liv and Maddie, originally ordered by Disney Channel for 13 episodes to air in the autumn of 2014, was then increased to 24 episodes.
As a promotional single, Cameron debuted a cover of Imagine Dragons' "On Top of the World" on August 27, 2013. Her cover song lasted three weeks at the top of the Billboard Kid Digital Songs list, peaking at number 17 overall. "Better In Stereo" was made available as a single by Walt Disney Records on October 15, 2013. Before reaching its peak at No. 1, "Better In Stereo" peaked at No. 21 on the Billboard Kid Digital Songs chart, earning Cameron's first No. 1 success. Cameron verified rumours that her debut studio album was already in the recording studio in February 2014. "Count Me In," her following single, was made available on June 3, 2014. The song's peak position on the Billboard Kids Digital Songs chart was at the top. Other songs from the movie featuring Cameron, like "Set It Off" and "Evil Like Me," debuted on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart at positions 6 and 12, respectively. The movie's soundtrack reached its highest point at the top of the Billboard 200 chart, making history as the first Disney Channel Original Movie soundtrack to do so since High School Musical 2. Christina Aguilera's song "Genie in a Bottle" was covered by Cameron for the Descendants series. On March 18, 2016, Disney Channel debuted the music video.
