Dilraba Dilmurat (Uyghur:, romanized: Dilreba Dilmurat; pinyin: Dlrèb Dlmùlt; born on June 3, 1992), also known in Chinese as Dilireba (simplified Chinese: ; traditional Chinese: ; pinyin: Dlrèb;), is a Chinese actress, host, dancer, singer, and model.
Life
Dilraba was born on June 3, 1992, to a Uyghur family in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China. She is also fluent in Uyghur and English, in addition to Mandarin.
Her father brought her to Xinjiang Art Middle School to take the entrance exam in 2001, when she was nine years old. She thought it was an interesting class at the time. When she received an offer from the school, she realized she'd be attending a dance school for the next six years.
She graduated from the Xinjiang Arts Institute in 2007 and joined the Xinjiang Song and Dance Troupe.
She spent a year at Northeast Normal University in Jilin in 2009. During this time, she placed third in a local singing competition.
She enrolled in the Shanghai Theater Academy's performance department in 2010, majoring in drama, film, and television. She auditioned for director Lu Chuan's new film The Last Supper the same year.
Career
2013–2016: acting debut and rising popularity
Dilraba made her acting debut as the lead in the television drama Anarhan in 2013. At the 30th Flying Apsaras Awards, the drama was nominated for Outstanding Television Series.
She signed with Jay Walk Studio in 2014 and starred in the company's web series V Love. Dilraba rose to prominence in the same year for her role as Fuqu in the hit fantasy drama Swords of Legends.
Dilraba won acclaim for her role as a sassy pop star in the 2015 romantic comedy Diamond Lover. Her performance earned her the Audience Favorite Newcomer award at the 7th China TV Drama Awards.
Dilraba was cast as the lead in the youth sports drama Hot Girl in 2016. She was named Outstanding New Actress at the 2016 ENAwards for her work in the series.
From 2017 to the present: breakthrough
Dilraba starred in the 2017 romantic comedy Pretty Li Huizhen, a remake of the South Korean drama She Was Pretty. The series was popular during its run, with over 7 billion views online, and she won the China TV Golden Eagle Award for Most Popular Actress and Audience's Choice for Actress for her performance. She also played a fox fairy in the fantasy romance series Eternal Love. The drama was a huge success in China and around the world, and it helped Dilraba gain more recognition and popularity. She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Shanghai Television Festival for the role.
That same year, she had her first leading role on the big screen in the romantic comedy Mr. Pride vs. Miss Prejudice. At the 2016 China Britain Film Festival, her performance earned her the Best New Actress award. She then appeared in The King's Woman, a historical romance drama, and Namiya, a fantasy film based on the Japanese novel Miracles of the Namiya General Store. Dilraba received the Golden Phoenix Awards' Newcomer award for her performance in Namiya.
Dilraba also appeared as a cast member on the fifth season of Keep Running in 2017, which increased her popularity. Dilraba was named to Forbes China's 30 Under 30 Asia 2017 list, which included 30 influential people under the age of 30 who have had a significant impact in their fields.
Dilraba appeared in the romantic comedy film 21 Karat in 2018. She then co-starred with Vic Chou in the wuxia romance drama The Flame's Daughter. Sweet Dreams, a science fiction romance comedy drama starring Deng Lun, premiered the same year. Before the drama ended, the series' concurrent TV viewership ratings 'broke 1%,' with an average of 1.018% in 52 cities, and it had received 6 billion online views. Dilraba was crowned the Golden Eagle Goddess at the 12th China Golden Eagle TV Art Festival due to her growing popularity.
Dilraba has an independent studio under Jay Walk Studio, which was announced in 2018 after surpassing 40 million followers on Weibo.
Dilraba made her first appearance on the CCTV New Year's Gala in 2019, performing the song "China Happy Events." Dilraba also appeared as a regular cast member in the fifth season of Go Fighting!.
She was a mentor on the competition show Produce Camp 2019 in 2019.
Dilraba reprised her role as Fengjiu from Eternal Love of Dream in the fantasy romance Eternal Love of Dream in January 2020. The same year, she portrayed a fashion designer in the workplace romance drama Love Advanced Customization.
Statista ranked Dilraba as the second-most-popular celebrity on Douyin in June 2020, with 55.6 million followers. Dilraba later played Chang'e in the historical fantasy film Saga of Light.
In 2021, she played Li Changge in the historical drama The Long Ballad. This series helped her gain even more popularity. Dilraba later co-starred with Yang Yang in You Are My Glory as Qiao Jingjing. The series was a commercial success, garnering 4 billion views during its run.
In 2022, she appeared in The Blue Whisper with Ren Jialun and The Legend of Anle with Gong Jun.
Endorsements
Dilraba is one of China's most sought-after brand ambassadors, with endorsement deals ranging from food and beverage, basic commodities, beauty and retail products, to mobile applications and technological products. She also endorses a number of international brands, including L'Oreal and Mikimoto. After hiring Dilraba as their spokesperson, P&G's Whisper saw an increase in sales. Dilraba left Dolce & Gabbana in 2018 following a racist ad incident in China.
Dilraba, a Uyghur from Xinjiang, publicly supported cotton produced in Xinjiang in 2021, after several international companies announced they would not purchase cotton from the region due to Uyghur forced labor concerns. Most other Chinese celebrities who cut ties with those brands followed her lead.
Dilraba was named Panerai's first female Global Brand Ambassador the same year.

Social gatherings
Dilraba visited local orphans on August 29, 2012, at a charity house in Xinjiang.
Dilraba joined the China Green Foundation's Action for Protecting Nature's Network tree planting and greening project in 2015. The following year, she was invited to participate in the "dressing together to help love" public welfare activity hosted by BAZAAR Star Charity Night, and all charity sale proceeds were donated.
Dilraba took part in the MAKEAPROMISE campaign in 2016 to help children affected by wars, diseases, and natural disasters. The UNICEF and Louis Vuitton campaign aims to help more children in need around the world.
Dilraba took part in the online charity auction launched by BAZAAR Star Charity Night in 2017, donating a silver waist chain to help raise funds for more ambulances in China's remote cities.
Dilraba took part in a public welfare project in 2018 to support the "Medical Insurance for Diseases," which helped to alleviate China's health and poverty issues. She prevented 25 million children in 585 impoverished counties from becoming impoverished as a result of illness. Dilraba called on more people to pay attention to adolescent girls' education in China in March. Dilraba was invited by Alibaba to become a public welfare star in poverty alleviation in China in November, and she invited everyone in the country to join her in revitalizing her home region of Xinjiang.
Dilraba was invited to participate in a media campaign called "China YOUNG" in 2019, and she was named one of the campaign's leaders. Dilraba, along with reporters from "Global," followed the Forestry and Grassland Bureau of Tibet into the "Qiangtang Plateau" in September to investigate local wild animal protection efforts.

On June 7, 2020, while Dilraba was on a variety show to promote products from impoverished farmers in Hunan, a male audience member went on stage, tapped her on the shoulder, got down on one knee and proposed to her with a ring. Wang Han, the show's host, stepped in between them and asked the crew to escort him off the stage. The man had reportedly been stalking her for half a year. Chinese netizens criticised the lax security measures and on June 10, expressed their outrage when authorities at Changsha only gave him 7 days' detention as punishment. Further condemnation followed after the man showed a lack of remorse when released.
