Dianna Agron Wiki, Age, Biography, Height, Husband, Family, Images, And More

Dianna Agron Wiki, Age, Biography, Height, Husband, Family, Images, And More

Dianna Elise Agron, an American actress and singer, was born on April 30, 1986. Agron made her cinematic debut in 2006 and had her first leading part in 2007 as Debbie Marshall on Heroes after growing up largely performing dance and appearing in minor musical theater shows. On the Fox musical comedy-drama series Glee, she landed the starring role of Quinn Fabray, the antagonistic but sympathetic head cheerleader, in 2009. She received several honors for her work on the show, including a SAG Award and a nomination for the Brit Award for Best International Breakthrough Act.

After Glee became a huge hit, Agron started doing more acting in movies. She first played Sarah Hart in the well-liked young adult adaptation I Am Number Four (2011) before moving on to movies with wider appeal, like the 2013 mob comedy The Family and 2015's Bare. Along with continuing to feature in movies like Novitiate and Hollow in the Land in 2017 and Shiva Baby in 2020 and As They Made Us in 2022, she has also directed a number of short films and music videos and started singing at the Café Carlyle in New York City in 2017. She co-starred in and directed a portion of the 2019 anthology movie Berlin, I Love You. Agron is known for having a velvety, melodic contralto voice.

Agron is Jewish, and she has discussed how her faith influences her job. Additionally, she has done a lot of charitable work, especially in support of human and LGBTQ+ rights.

Early Years

Ronald S. Agron and Mary (née Barnes), a seamstress, welcomed Dianna Elise Agron into the world on April 30, 1986 in Savannah, Georgia. Former general manager of Hyatt hotels, "Ron" Agron. While her mother converted to Judaism prior to their marriage, her father was born into a Jewish family. Jason Agron, a photographer, is Agron's younger brother. Her father's family were Jewish immigrants from Novgorod-Seversky in Ukraine, and the family's original surname was Agronsky. She is Ashkenazi Jewish and of Russian Jewish ancestry. She has distant ties to Martin Agronsky and Gershon Agron. Agron was reared in Burlingame, California, and San Antonio, Texas. Because of her father's job, her family had to reside in a number of hotels, but her mother made sure Agron and her brother knew this wasn't the norm. According to Agron, their house was always filled with music from the 1960s and 1970s, and even as a teenager, her mother forbade her (but not her brother) from watching modern movies and television in favor of letting her watch mostly old-fashioned musicals because she thought they had "a certain amount of loveliness to." Agron's desire to pursue acting was motivated by these movies' "fairytale" and "fantastical" portrayal of Hollywood, while her interest in narrative stems from growing up in the "fishbowl environment" of hotels and witnessing various lives unfold around her.

Agron began dancing at the age of three, studying ballet, jazz, and later hip-hop dancing. She lived in Texas from the time she was two years old until she was nine. Frequently appearing in community and school musical theater productions, she was eight years old when she played Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz. Growing up, she attended Hebrew school and completed the third grade at a Jewish day school. She said she thought having police guarding their Temple was usual until the family moved to California and that she was severely bullied for her Jewish beliefs while living in Texas. She added that being Jewish was a big part of her identity as a child because of how it made her feel isolated. Agron attended Burlingame High School, Burlingame Intermediate School, and Lincoln Elementary School in the Bay Area after her family moved there. She also attended religious school at the Reform Jewish Peninsula Temple Sholom and celebrated her bat mitzvah there. Despite describing her middle school years as occasionally unpleasant, she claimed that she found it much easier to make friends there than she had in Texas. She gave the example of a boy following her around and calling her a man when, at the age of thirteen, her voice became noticeably lower. She developed a problem over the way her voice sounded as a result, and for a while she avoided speaking and singing in her natural register. She eventually overcame this, and she attributes it to having given her a thick skin.

Agron has stated that she was not "popular" in the conventional sense of the word in high school, but rather had many friends in many groups. In her junior and senior years of high school, she served on the homecoming court and tied for the title of homecoming queen with a friend. She participated in school theater, acting as a senior in Vanities and Grease as well as assisting with set and costume design. Agron has twice fractured her nose. She had the first break when she was fourteen, but she didn't get it fixed until it was broken once more on a day off while she was on the Glee tour. She also had physical treatment while in high school after suffering injuries in a car accident. Agron "became enthralled with fashion" while working as a dance instructor and a sales associate at a neighborhood store called Morning Glory when she was a teen. Despite being given doll-style outfits by her mother, she started experimenting with fashion in high school. She stated she took piano lessons and developed a liking for photography in high school, where she learned on film. Agron learned of her father's sickness when she was fifteen, after he suffered a stroke and started losing his cognitive and physical abilities, and the family would later diagnose it as multiple sclerosis when tests remained inconclusive. She spoke to Cosmopolitan about the effects this had on her family and how her parent's divorce had a catastrophic effect on both her and her brother. She said, "I had to play the role of therapist to let family be the glue." Later, she recalled, her father "lost his faith for some time" after becoming ill, and the family stopped going to Temple.

Career

Early Career And Heroes From 2006 To 2008

In 2005, Agron relocated to Los Angeles and showed up for a dance agency audition the following day. Los Angeles was chosen over New York since it was closer to her family in case she needed to help them in the future. When she told the agency that she wanted to perform in musicals after being signed by them, they sent her out for music video auditions. Agron was reluctant to appear in music videos because she felt she couldn't be both a dancer and an actress. However, she consented to appear in the video for Robin Thicke's song "Wanna Love You Girl"; she was then dropped when Pharrell Williams became involved and the concept changed. She was assisted in finding an acting agent by her dance agency, and when she asked to be considered for musicals again, she was informed that they were out of date. She started seeing movies other than classic musicals when she came to Los Angeles, and after seeing 2001 and A Clockwork Orange back-to-back, she was pleasantly astonished by how much more scope there was for actors.

She had appearances on several TV shows between 2006 and 2008, including Shark, Close to Home, Drake & Josh, CSI: NY, and Numbers. In the 2006 version of When a Stranger Calls, she played a cheerleader in an uncredited cameo. Agron said to Rolling Stone that the majority of the film parts she was offered in the beginning of her career were for nudity or horror movies, and she turned them all down. Instead, she acted in the comedic movies T.K.O. and Skid Marks and Rushers, which received the 2007 Method Fest audience award for best short film. In the third season of Veronica Mars, she played Jenny Budosh, a college student in Veronica's criminology class who also gets caught up in a fraud cover-up. Agron spent time with Christina McDowell, Emma Stone, and other "young artists and starlets" in the area, such as Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Bynes, when she first moved to Los Angeles. The building they shared was once raided by a SWAT squad.

Alongside Sam Huntington, she co-starred in the first season of the Milo Ventimiglia-created MTV series It's a Mall World in 2007. Then, for the second season of Heroes, she made a guest appearance as Debbie Marshall, the nasty cheerleading squad captain at the new school Claire Bennet attends. Since she had previously been stereotyped as the "nice girl," she initially read for the part of a nice cheerleader, but a producer decided it would be more interesting to see her portray a mean character. She claimed that while the role is different from who she is as a person, getting the part "helped open a lot of people's eyes to [her] as an actor." Agron created a feature screenplay about a 28-year-old man and his interactions with various women in his life as he learns how to say "I love you" during the 2007–2008 writers' strike, when auditions were halted. The script was optioned in 2008; Agron had originally intended to direct the movie.

Glee, I Am Number Four, and early film appearances from 2009 to 2011

In 2009, Agron received her first major role as Quinn Fabray on the Fox musical drama Glee. In April 2010, media journalist Jon Caramanica referred to the figure as a "conniving though angelic-looking cheerleader." With the producers struggling to find a Quinn, Fox wanted to keep her in the pilot, and casting director Robert J. Ulrich persuaded them to let him see more auditions. Agron was the final principal actor to be cast, having landed the part just days before the pilot began filming. Although they did not initially tell Agron, the producers felt that the character would be unnecessary if she could not be given more depth; Ulrich told Variety that when they saw her audition, the show finally "came together". Agron had over thirty unsuccessful auditions for a small role in a musical just before Glee, so she went in for the audition with no expectations. She performed "Fly Me to the Moon" by Frank Sinatra at her audition. Agron later remarked that the request to come back looking sexier by the production before offering her the role "was like hearing nails on a chalkboard." Showrunner Ryan Murphy said of Agron's casting: "she ruined the part for me... she humanized it. She can cry at the drop of a hat. So now her character has a conscience, a soul, and great vulnerability." Agron and other Glee cast members sang the national anthem prior to Game 3 of the World Series in 2009.

A Fuchsia Elephant is a short comedy film that Agron wrote, co-starred in, directed, and executive produced while he was taking a break from filming Glee in the summer of 2009. On the day before she turns eighteen, Agron's character Charlotte Hill recreates her eighth birthday celebration with her friend Michael, who is played by Dave Franco, another producer. She took on more acting roles in 2010 and 2011, including Natalie in Burlesque and the cheerleader Samantha in Bold Native, an animal liberation terror movie. She also directed the music video for Thao & The Get Down Stay Down's song "Body" in 2010. Agron had previously taken on several "mean cheerleader" parts, so when she started receiving more offers during the first season of Glee, she encouraged her team to start rejecting them. When casting for The Amazing Spider-Man started in 2010, Agron was considered one of the top candidates for the character of Gwen Stacy in the reboot of the Spider-Man movies, but Emma Stone ultimately won the role. Agron tested for the part just as Glee's second season started, and according to Deadline, there were worries about her availability given her significant role on a big network program. She auditioned in 2011 for the character of Lois Lane in the DC Extended Universe movie Man of Steel, but Amy Adams won the job due to worries that she was too young for it.

Agron was referred to as "one of the show's best actors" but was frequently ignored by Emily St. James for The A.V. Club during the second season of Glee. She sang "I Feel Pretty" from West Side Story and TLC's "Unpretty" in a duet with Lea Michele (as Rachel Berry) in the "Born This Way" episode. The song has received high praise and was chosen as the best Glee number in a 2011 TVLine fan vote elimination bracket. The Observer named this the best Glee cover, praising Agron's "soft and comforting vocals" and declaring that as "a cult favorite of Glee fans in 2020, this one deserves all the hype even outside the show's kitschy walls." It was also mentioned by Murphy as his favorite show cover. As a fan of costumes and extreme makeup, Agron has singled out specific episodes from this season as her favorites, citing "The Rocky Horror Glee Show," particularly "Time Warp," and the rendition of "Thriller," even though her illness in December 2010 caused a brief delay in the filming of the latter number. Quinn frequently sang in the soprano range on Glee, according to Agron, who also noted that this range is not where she feels most confident or at ease. In the first season, Agron rarely used her chest voice, and in 2011, HuffPost referred to Quinn's vocal range as falsetto. She had used a higher speaking voice during her audition to reflect her character's youth and personality, according to Agron, who claimed that Quinn "sees herself as having to be elite and perfect, so I didn't see her with this raspy voice." Quinn struggled to maintain the affected voice in Glee's second season and changed it for the third. Agron penned Chris Colfer's Time 100 entry in 2011 for her Glee co-star.

Her first major film role was as co-lead Sarah Hart in the 2011 YA adaptation I Am Number Four. Agron characterized Sarah Hart as a "artsy kid who is a little misunderstood." Agron explained that while she wanted to work during the Glee vacation, she would not accept just any job that fit in her schedule because "it's so hard as an actor to really engage with a character and a script if you don't love it." She took on the part since it was distinct from her Quinn persona. She almost didn't land the job due to her Glee filming limitations. Agron found out she was given the part a few weeks before filming when the project was pushed to the summer, when she was free. The day following the conclusion of the first Glee tour, photography started in Pittsburgh in the summer of 2010. The movie received conflicting reviews. Alex Pettyfer, who was Agron's I Am Number Four co-lead, left his role as Tom in Seventh Son in May 2011, and Agron auditioned for the part of Alice Deane.

Agron performed "Never Can Say Goodbye" by the Jackson 5 in the third season of Glee, marking her first solo performance since the show's debut. Positive reviews were given to the song, which had been released before the program. Less positive evaluations were given to the character's stories in this season; they made light of the fact that Agron did not have much to work with. Agron had previously stated that the tale, which she discussed with Murphy, would be "slow and gradual" as Quinn fights to embrace a more difficult circumstance. In one story, her character was crippled in a car accident, but only for four episodes before she was performing again. Though critics praised Agron's acting, The Guardian referred to the momentary paralysis and the accompanying "cringe-inducing" performance of "I'm Still Standing" as the show's "defining shark-jumping moment" in 2019. Following the car accident episode, Agron told MTV that playing Quinn, who "always was changing," presented her with "fun challenges." Agron made an appearance as a guest mentor on The Glee Project's second season episode "Actability" after the third season had already broadcast.

Quinn's performances of several songs have been transformed into single releases, digital downloads, and appearances on the show's soundtrack albums. Agron performed a number of pop songs on Glee, but she was also known as the show's easy listening voice and sang some Motown. Her covers of the Supremes' "You Keep Me Hangin' On" and of "I Say a Little Prayer" both reached the top 125 on the UK Singles Chart. These songs were included in Glee: The Music, Volume 1, which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media (the earlier as an iTunes bonus track). Caramanica lamented the omission of Agron's rendition of "Papa Don't Preach," calling it "one of the most grounded and moving covers the show has yet done," from the soundtracks. After being released as a single, "Papa Don't Preach" peaked at number 81 on the UK Singles Chart, while "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" peaked at number 73 on the Canadian Hot 100, number 94 on the UK Singles Chart, and number 95 on the Billboard Hot 100. On the Billboard charts, her cover of "Never Can Say Goodbye" peaked at number 107. In addition to being a featured performer on the Glee cast, Agron and her co-stars have received various honors. They won an American Music Award in 2010 and were nominated for two Grammy Awards and the Brit Award for International Breakthrough Act of the Year in 2011. They were nominated for a Grammy for another soundtrack CD in 2012. They held the record for the most charting (Billboard) act in history by the start of the sixth season, which they retained until March 2020.

The Family and music videos from 2012 to 2014

Co-star Naya Rivera claimed that Agron was reduced to a guest star in Glee's fourth season because she wanted to focus on other projects. Rivera and Agron had an argument scene together in the Thanksgiving episode that Vulture deemed to be "weirdly powerful," adding that the two "have always popped in scenes like this, and have never gotten enough of them." Agron quipped that the two characters might have a spin-off while Murphy remarked that the moment was one of his favorites. As the first cast member to "cut out on her own" after having her Glee role diminished, Agron played Belle Blake opposite Robert De Niro, Tommy Lee Jones, and Michelle Pfeiffer in Luc Besson's bloody 2013 mafia comedy picture The Family. Agron was apparently in mind when Besson wrote Belle; he wanted her to star after watching her on Glee. "Agron is one of the best things in the film successfully grounds the more preposterous aspects of the plot," the Irish Independent observed. Although it debuted to mixed reviews, critics praised Agron's performance and she was nominated for a Women Film Critics Circle Award. At the time, the then-CEO of production company EuropaCorp regarded her as the film's breakout performer.

Later in 2013, she portrayed lead singer Brandon Flowers in the music video for the Killers' "Just Another Girl," which marked the band's tenth anniversary. She briefly featured in the fifth season of Glee for the 100th episode, and was conspicuously absent from "The Quarterback", the tribute episode for Cory Monteith, according to Rolling Stone, which also noted that even with the real Flowers also participating, "Agron shines as the video's star." Agron appeared in Sam Smith's "I'm Not the Only One" music video in 2014 as the bride who was spurned. According to Glamour, Agron "really brings Sam's heart wrenching pop-ballad to life" with her "convincing Desperate Housewives act off some major acting skills." She also co-photographed the February 2014 issue of Galore magazine with her brother Jason, and she directed the music video for the Goldroom song "Till Sunrise," which starred Gabrielle Haugh. She was chosen by designer Tory Burch to represent the company at the 2015 Met Gala and directed a short film for the inauguration of the Burch flagship store in Paris. Even more rare than skipping "The Quarterback," Agron returned to Glee for its final season, but he did not appear in the episode "A Wedding," in which Quinn's best friends get married.

Independent Movies, Singing, And Directing From 2015 To 2019

Agron continued to make what reviewer Frank Scheck later referred to as "admirably adventurous screen choices" after Glee. She claimed in 2017 that she "wanted to return to doing independent films [after Glee and The Family] and found a lot of solace in doing so," going on to say in 2022 that she "purposely had to recalibrate after was fully off of that show, and make time for... after so many years of not having any control just not a person in own world." In the 2015 drama film Bare directed by Natalia Leite, Agron took the major part as Sarah, a girl who develops a romantic interest in a female drifter. Leite and Agron had spent a lot of time discussing the film's naked sequence, which borrows the mood from My Summer of Love. Agron also made her stage debut as a professional in 2015. She turned down a Broadway play because she wanted to write her own part, choosing instead to play Dahlia in McQueen at the St. James Theatre on the West End. McQueen received generally poor reviews, and Rebecca Halliday noted in her PhD thesis for York University that the reviews were harsh not only on Agron's performance but also on the actress herself. Due to shooting commitments, Agron was unable to repeat her part for the Theatre Royal Haymarket transfer. For Independence Day 2015, she sang the American anthem at Winfield House, the home of the American ambassador, while Katherine Jenkins sang the British anthem.

In 2016, Agron moved to New York City and took a leave of absence from her job. She acted in many movies that were released in 2017. In the Vatican II-themed movie Novitiate, she played Sister Mary Grace, a counterbalance to the Mother Superior's strict instructions, opposite Melissa Leo and Margaret Qualley. Agron discussed her role as a Catholic nun as a Jewish actor, stating that she was drawn to investigating religion and spirituality that were distinct from her own. According to Justin Chang of the Los Angeles Times, "in an ensemble without a weak link, special note should be made of, gently heartbreaking," and according to Mick LaSalle of the San Francisco Chronicle, Agron, along with Rebecca Dayan and Julianne Nicholson, "would be the highlight of any other film, the person audiences would go home talking about" as part of the ensemble. In the drama Hollow in the Land, Agron also portrays Alison Miller, the protagonist. The movie was frequently compared to Winter's Bone; The New York Times stated that the "movie is not as tense, but it gets close thanks to Ms. Agron's resolute performance and hostile small town setting"; The Hollywood Reporter stated that "Agron delivers a compelling turn in this atmospheric backwoods mystery."

Agron made her singing debut in September 2017 with a residency at the Café Carlyle. She stated that she "missed singing publicly" and wished to pursue this once more in New York. She sang songs that were originally performed by male acts during her set, and BroadwayWorld noted that audiences may have heard her sing in her preferred register for the first time. She told WWD that she noticed an improvement in her vocal quality when she used her own register again after feeling uneasy hitting high notes for Glee. Music critic Will Friedwald called her "a post-millennial update of Julie London," Metrosource's Paul Hagen said her lower range was "smooth as single malt scotch," and Theater Pizzazz's Eric J. Grimm said she revealed herself to be a capable and precise singer with an appreciation for excellent lyrics when she was free of auto tune and songs out of her vocal range. Despite the fact that she sang a lot of songs by male artists, this performance was advertised as featuring songs by female acts. Agron's little commentary during the second performance, which Matt Smith, of Theater Pizzazz, described as "as if she's second-guessing herself," was made up for by the music she chose; Agron chose songs that she felt lovely and playful. Her voice is "soothing and soulful, making the already cozy Café Carlyle feel that much more intimate," Smith remarked. She might think about releasing an album, but not one with the pop songs heard on Glee, according to Agron.

In 2019, the Cities of Love anthology film series' Berlin, I Love You was released. Agron played a puppeteer who revives the life of a burnt-out Hollywood star played by Luke Wilson in the movie and directed a scene from a screenplay by David Vernon. She was first invited to perform in the segment, but before she was hired for both roles, she asked if she could also direct it. The segment took one day to shoot. The movie received generally unfavorable reviews: Jackie K. Cooper and Peter Sobczynski of RogerEbert.com both felt it was "such a wan little embarrassment that its presence can only be explained by the fact that... Wilson and Agron might attract a few more viewers." Peter Debruge of Variety wrote that "by and large, the film feels aimless and uninspired... the most effective sequence may be offering."

2020–present: Return to prominence

Agron played Kim Beckett in the comedy Shiva Baby, which was set at a Jewish funeral service, in 2020. Many critics praised the movie and the cast, with some praising Agron for the complexity of her performance. She delivered a "perfect" and "flawless" performance, according to The Hollywood Reporter, /Film, and Variety. After that, she played Laura Riding in the historical biopic The Laureate, which debuted in 2021 and chronicled Riding's relationship with Robert Graves and their lovers.

Agron presented her third residence at the Café Carlyle in the months of March and April 2022. Reviews praised her endearing remarks and capacity for audience interaction; Front Row Center stated that her "alluring badinage is as delightful as her song." Her "famously husky... whisky tenor and relaxed stylings an atmosphere of levity and love," according to Stephen Mosher for BroadwayWorld.

Alongside Dustin Hoffman and Candice Bergen, Agron played the lead character of Abigail in the April 2022 film As They Made Us, which was directed by Mayim Bialik. Hoffman and Bergen's characters have a daughter named Abigail. Agron previously portrayed Bergen's daughter in the 2010 movie The Romantics, and she described it as "super special" to work with her once more at a different point of her career. Due to her personal experiences with her own father's illness, Agron was able to relate to the movie's theme of parental death. She said that a year or so before the project's production, she had finally reached a point where she felt ready to handle father-daughter relationships in her work.

She is a member of the primary cast of the 2024 release of the Netflix original television series El Elegido, which is based on the American Jesus comic book series by Mark Millar.

Public Perception

Image And Style

Agron has embraced the term "old Hollywood" for her public persona and sense of style ever since she was a young girl, looking up to icons like Audrey Hepburn, Lucille Ball, and Leslie Caron. Agron, who has a Mid-Atlantic accent like classic performers, has linked this time period to her beliefs on privacy, saying: "I think people know too much about celebrities these days... You didn't know much about the stars back then. Agron was nominated for the Teen Choice Award for Female Breakout Star in 2010 for her work as Quinn on Glee, and the same year, she and the rest of the ensemble won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Agron was named one of the top emerging stars on IMDb in 2011 for her work in Glee and I Am Number Four, and the Victoria's Secret models named her as having the sexiest grin in Hollywood. Agron lamented the lack of privacy provided to her Glee castmates by paparazzi after the loss of Cory Monteith in 2013, but she claimed to have come to accept this kind of treatment in exchange for the benefits of being an actor. Since then, Agron has claimed that the level of success Glee experienced when she was in her early twenties put her "into a world not very equipped to, kind of, explore that coming-of-age in the public eye," and that the sudden rise of social media at the time did not help. She added that she made the decision to travel in order to stay grounded. In 2012 and 2013, Agron was among the most popular and influential celebrities on Twitter.

Agron has been referred to as a "fashion icon" by Entertainment Tonight, and Vogue magazine has written on her sense of style and appreciation for remixing clothes. She is acknowledged with having influenced the adoption of the fishtail braid, shaggy bob, and pompadour hairstyles. Her attendance at the Met Galas also contributed to the gala's rise to prominence as one of New York's most important social gatherings. Agron calls her sense of style "eclectic" and says she likes to wear both feminine and masculine outfits. She claimed in 2015 that she leans "more to the prudish side" in terms of style and presentation. In 2010, she and her Glee co-stars Michele and Monteith were featured on the cover of GQ. After "minor controversy" arose from accusations that the actresses' provocative attire offended their younger fans, Agron sent an explanation to her blog. In the contentious 2016 song "Einstein yori Dianna Agron" by Japanese idol group HKT48, Agron and her Glee character are referred to as the pinnacle of beauty and charm. She is also mentioned as an inspiration for the song "22" by Taylor Swift, and some fans have conjectured that she may also be mentioned in "Wonderland" by Swift.

Agron is a practicing Jew, despite the fact that she rose to fame by portraying the non-Jewish character opposite Jewish ones. She is fluent in Hebrew and went to Israel in 2016 to research her religion. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's success in 2018 and physiognomist Sharrona Pearl's response in a Jewish cultural journal sparked a discussion about Jewish performers portraying Jewish characters. More representation of Jewish performers is not necessary, according to Tablet, citing Agron and her roles as overtly shiksa characters as examples. According to them, Jewishness is not a physical characteristic. Jewish media have made comments about Agron's Glee character, possibly increasing cheerleading's visibility among Jewish girls, and her appearance, which Hey Alma notes is "something the Jewish media loves to talk about, somewhat saltily." Shiva Baby, which stars a non-Jewish actress in the lead role while Agron's Kim is ironically the only character in the movie who is not considered Jewish, sparked more debates about actors' Jewishness. Writer-director Emma Seligman said that Agron was thrilled to be a part of a Jewish movie, and she told Jewschool that it was "so sad to hear, but because of her looks, Jewishness is constantly questioned."

Relationships Despite Agron's reputation for keeping her love affairs discreet, the actress has been in a number of well-known unions. She started dating her I Am Number Four co-star, British actor Alex Pettyfer, in July 2010. Despite only starting to live together in 2010, Pettyfer was reportedly controlling and paranoid throughout their relationship. The day after the movie was released in February 2011, the pair had a nasty breakup, according to claims that he had a "heated confrontation" with actor Sebastian Stan, who Agron had been close to in early 2011. She briefly relocated to a hotel under a false identity so that Pettyfer would not be able to locate her, and Pettyfer was told not to go to a gathering where she would be present. Agron first met actor Chris Evans at an Oscars party at the beginning of 2011, and the two became romantically involved in April of that same year. Scott Evans, who is said to be a fan of Agron from Glee, reportedly supported the relationship. Agron and Stan started dating in June 2011; they broke up in December because Agron couldn't spend time with him because to Glee work, but they started dating again in February 2012 and remained so in April.

Agron and guitarist for Mumford & Sons Winston Marshall were first linked in rumors in July 2015, and they were engaged in the winter of that same year. Agron wore a Valentino Fall 2016 off-the-runway gown, which has been cited as one of the most costly celebrity wedding dresses ever, on October 15, 2016, when they were married in Morocco. Agron and Marshall kept their romance a secret, even from their followers on social media. They divorced in 2020 after divorcing, having separated in 2019. Marshall stated in 2022 that their breakup, which occurred about the same time he became clean, was difficult.

In 2021, Agron was associated with Belgian painter Harold Ancart, and in 2022, she allegedly dated actor Bradley Cooper. In 2022, it was stated that she and publisher Lucas Zwirner were involved in an incident that forced Ancart to abruptly sever connections with art dealer and gallery owner (and Lucas' father) David Zwirner. She was back with Ancart at that time.

Many people have made assumptions about Agron's sexual orientation; lesbian culture website According to Autostraddle, Agron's 2011 appearance with a T-shirt that said "Likes Girls" "was the moment that started the whole gay discourse," and in a 2016 episode of IFC's Boxed In, Agron was mocked for making unclear comments about the topic, which is typical of Celesbian culture. As a result of Agron's close friendship with Taylor Swift, some fans have long held the belief that Swift is "secretly gay." In 2012, Hollywood was rife with rumors of a romance between the two, and Agron was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! where she was questioned about the truth of the rumors. She was referred to as having a "queer personality" in the BELLA magazine's Pride Month 2022 issue.

Activism

Assistance And Advocacy

In 2015, The Guardian stated that Agron was "also known for her activism, supporting charities and advocacy groups when not acting." She has stated that one benefit of her profession is being able to participate in extensive charitable activity. She is an activist for LGBT+ and human rights. She has also volunteered her time to charitable causes that benefit kids, such as Camp Wonder and UNICEF, and she has organized and taken part in a number of fundraisers for the literacy non-profit 826LA, including emceeing the concert "Chickens in Love" in 2010. Agron has participated regularly in the Global Citizen Festival as a Global Citizen Ambassador since 2014 and a GLAAD Spirit Day ambassador since 2012. Agron supported the presidential campaigns of Joe Biden for president in 2020, Hillary Clinton for president in 2016, and Barack Obama in 2012.

Along with her Glee co-stars Kevin McHale and Darren Criss, she attended Trevor Live! in 2011 and hosted the GLAAD Media Awards in San Francisco on June 2, 2012. On March 24, 2012, in New York City, Naya Rivera and Cory Monteith organized a parallel event where they auctioned off kisses to the audience; Agron did the same, generating $5,500 for the cause. Agron discussed women's rights at the 18th San Francisco Power of Choice Luncheon in 2013, which commemorated the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, and denounced the US Supreme Court for overturning it in June 2022. Agron is a supporter of female filmmakers and works with Platform Presents, a British organization established by Gala Gordon to give emerging artists a platform. She served as a jury member for the Nora Ephron Prize at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival and the Through Her Lens grant at Tribeca in 2017 and 2018. As part of the Big Slick Foundation, a group of celebrities with ties to Kansas City, Agron participated in a charity weekend to support the Children's Mercy Hospital. She and other Glee stars also took part in the Young Storytellers Foundation's "Glee Big Show," which featured live performances of five scripts written by fifth graders to support arts programs in public schools. She penned an article for NBC News in August 2014 to support International Youth Day at the United Nations (UN).

Agron has made a point of supporting organizations that help war-affected children and refugees. Agron visited the Kampong Cham center of the Somaly Mam Foundation in 2012 and spoke with the residents who were young children and teenagers. In 2013 she sponsored a campaign fundraiser for the foundation. Agron was one of many worldwide performers that appeared on the UNICEF fundraising record "Imagine" in November 2014. Since 2014, she has raised money and spoken out for War Child, particularly in support of Syrian refugees. In 2016, she traveled with the UN to visit Syrian refugees who had been resettled in Austria and Jordan. She has also supported the military by offering live entertainment and services to American service members and their families as part of the United Service Organizations tour in December 2014 at the Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan as well as other venues in Spain, Italy, Turkey, and the UK.

Charlie, Myself, And You

Agron introduced the curation platform You, Me & Charlie (YM&C) on December 12, 2011. She authored and compiled entries on a variety of topics, including music, art, fashion, and daily inspiration with assistance from a number of other contributors. Agron's childhood moniker Charlie, "her male alter ego and the star of the short stories she'd write in high school," is referenced in the website's name. The website also included a number of dancer and friend of Agron Lexy Hulme's short films and movies, and also welcomed contributions for inspiration pieces through a related Tumblr blog. InStyle promoted how the platform spread activism, noting that "these days it seems every celebrity has an online presence Agron uses social media in a truly inspired way." Vanity Fair promoted the platform as a stress reliever, praising its "full of sunshine, optimism, and pretty people" nature. The inspiration for YM&C stemmed from how "people really responded so well to, so just wanted to open it up and have it be more of a community". Agron hosted a concert for the curation blog in February 2013 in Los Angeles, where she sang Tina Turner's "What's Love Got to Do with It" and Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams" with the group A House For Lions.
