We never anticipated there to be as much activity going on behind the scenes of Saturday Night Live.
Chris Redd, a former SNL cast member, is allegedly seeing Christina Evangeline, the ex-wife of veteran actor Kenan Thompson, according to TMZ. According to sources who spoke with the publication, Redd and Evangeline have been dating for a year and there is "no overlap or infidelity" because Thompson and his ex-girlfriend were divorced for a while before the relationship started.
According to TMZ, Kenan is aware of his ex's relationship with Chris and is not upset about it. He has allegedly moved on and is happily seeing other people.
Although it may seem like chaotic gossip, it seems like everyone involved is acting like an adult, which is a welcome change. From a distance, it's simple to think of all the ways this may go wrong, but if everyone seems content and at ease with the circumstances, it's not really that strange.
Kenan and Evangeline, who filed for divorce in April, have maintained their friendship while co-parenting their two girls, as previously reported at The Root.
"Kenan and Christina get along great. They have stayed close during the separation and as co-parents, according to Us Weekly, which broke the news of the couple's divorce. "Having been together for 14 years and married for 11 years, a lot of things change. They merely simply drifted apart and had different priorities. The reason they broke up is not that interesting.
Redd and Thompson co-starred on the NBC comedy Kenan, which had a brief run, in addition to sharing an Emmy at SNL.
Redd, who is best known for his impersonations of Kanye West and New York City Mayor Eric Adams, said earlier this month that he was quitting the popular sketch comedy programme.
In a statement, he stated, "Being a member of SNL has been the experience of a lifetime." "Five years ago, I entered 30 Rock with the understanding that there was a tremendous potential for growth. I'm thankful to Lorne Michaels and the entire SNL crew right now for giving me friends who have grown into family and moments I will cherish forever. I sincerely appreciate your help, and I can't thank you all enough.
When Kenan returns for his 20th season on Saturday Night Live's Season 48 debut on October 1 at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT, it certainly looks like something that's ready for jokes, despite the fact that he has never been a malicious or gotcha-style comedian.
