Chen Yuqi (born July 29, 1992), also known as Yukee Chen, is a Chinese actress. She is best known for her supporting roles in The Princess Weiyoung and Ashes of Love, as well as her lead roles as Zhao Min in Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre and Chong Xue Zhi in And the Winner is Love.
Childhood and education
Chen Yuqi was born on July 29, 1992 in Chengdu as Chen Qian (Chinese: ). She studied performing arts at Sichuan University's Jincheng College. Chen worked as an extra in Hengdian World Studios after graduating.
2015-2018 Career: Beginnings
Chen was spotted by actress Tiffany Tang in 2015 while working as an extra on the set of the film A Chinese Odyssey Part Three. She later became one of Tang's first batch of actors.
Chen rose to prominence in 2016 for her performance as a sassy and adorable princess in Tiffany Tang's historical drama The Princess Weiyoung. She received the Newcomer award at the China Television Drama Quality Ceremony for her performance. The same year, she appeared as one of the leads in the wuxia web film Man Hunter.
Chen was cast in her first leading role, alongside Wang Yibo, in the fantasy web drama Private Shushan Gakuen in 2017. She then appeared in the campus drama Fresh Teachers as a student in a supporting role.
Chen portrayed a powerful demon princess in the hit fantasy romance drama Ashes of Love in 2018.
2019–present: Increasing popularity
Chen appeared as one of the female leads in the 2019 wuxia drama Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre, which was based on Jin Yong's novel of the same name. Her portrayal of the beloved character Zhao Min earned her critical acclaim and boosted her acting career.
Chen co-starred with Yu Menglong in the historical romance drama The Love Lasts Two Minds in 2020, playing two roles. The same year, she co-starred with Luo Yunxi in the wuxia romance drama And The Winner Is Love, playing the naive female lead Chong Xue Zhi.
Mystery of Antiques III, based on Ma Boyong's novel of the same name, will be her first republican-themed drama.
