Early years
Iman was born in 1990 in Atlanta, Georgia. She was raised in California's Los Angeles. Her mother is Korean and African American. Her dad is of African descent.
Career
In Modeling At the age of 12, Iman began working as a child model in Los Angeles, California, for Ford Models. In 2006, she took a plane to New York and took third place in Ford's Supermodel of the World competition. She joined the company soon after that. She has been featured in issues of Allure, Vanity Fair, Pop, Italian, British, and Indonesian Elle, American, Ukrainian, Dubai, and several other international Vogues. Iman first appeared on the cover of Teen Vogue in February 2007 and again in July 2007, this time with Karlie Kloss and Ali Michael, and was again featured on the cover in November 2009, this time with Jourdan Dunn. She also made an appearance on an episode of Cycle 23, where she posed alongside the cycle's contestants.
As part of Olivia Munn's performance of Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" on a Spike Lip Sync Battle episode from January 2016, she also made an appearance.
Acting
Iman made an appearance in the 2015 Sundance Film Festival-premiered movie Dope. Iman made an appearance in the Mad Families Crackle original movie in 2017.

Iman and her mother collaborated to launch The Red Bag, a clothes store, in Culver City, California, at the beginning of 2010. Iman made an appearance in Beyoncé's "Yonce" music video. She also made an appearances in the music videos for "Dive" by Usher and "Can't Feel My Face" by The Weeknd. She went to the Met Ball in 2012 with Tom Ford, a fashion designer.

Iman visited East Africa in 2011 as part of a business trip, when she joined a select group of celebrities associated with the USAID and Ad Council's FWD campaign, a public awareness campaign linked to the drought in East Africa that year. She appeared in TV and online advertisements with Uma Thurman, Geena Davis, and Josh Hartnett to "forward the facts" about the issue. As a supporter of education, Chanel helps establish elementary schools in underdeveloped rural areas of Tanzania and Uganda. Her love for helping others inspired her to sponsor a number of young girls in Kenya, providing money for both their schooling and daily expenses.
Iman was chosen by American Vogue's editor-in-chief Anna Wintour to co-host her Runway to Win fundraiser event in Chicago in May 2011. Iman created a bag in conjunction with the occasion to raise money for President Barack Obama's 2012 campaign.
Private life
Iman and rapper A$AP Rocky started dating around the start of 2013. They were reportedly engaged in April 2014, however they split up in June. Jordan Clarkson, a basketball player for the Lakers, and Iman were confirmed to be dating in August 2015, but their relationship terminated soon after.
Iman made her engagement to New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard official on December 2. On March 3, 2018, the Beverly Hills Hotel served as the venue for the wedding. Cali, who was born on August 10, 2018, and Cassie, who was born on December 17, 2019, are the couple's two daughters. In January 2022, the couple made their divorce announcement. Davon Godchaux, a defensive tackle with the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL), and she are presently dating.
