Cansu Dere is a Turkish actress, model, and former Miss Turkey. She was born on October 14, 1980 in Ankara.

Biography

Her mother is related to the Turkish community in Thessaloniki, Greece, and her father is related to the Turkish community in Bulgaria.

In zmir, she completed her primary and secondary education. Cansu was supposed to represent Turkey in the Miss Universe pageant in 2000, but she backed out due to political issues between Turkey and Cyprus (the Miss Universe host country in 2000); Turkey had no relations with the Republic of Cyprus. The Turkish government forbade her from traveling to the 2000 Miss Universe pageant in Cyprus unless she could pass through Northern Cyprus, which was then prohibited for any visitor to the Republic of Cyprus. The Turkish competition committee arranged for her to travel through Athens, but the government refused to let her go "for political reasons" the day before her departure. This was the second delegate who was barred from representing Turkey that year.

Shortly after, the former Miss Turkey began working as a professional model. She left Istanbul University's Archeology Department to pursue a career in modeling. Cansu Dere participated in various fashion shows in Paris in 2002 and 2003, representing Turkey in all international organizations of Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters' Association, and worked with many important photographers.

She co-starred with Mehmet Akif Alakurt in the TV series Sla from 2006 to 2008. In the 2007 film The Last Ottoman, she co-starred as 'Defne' with Kenan Mirzalolu. She appeared in the black comedy Ac Aşk in 2009. She portrayed 'Eyşan' in the Ezel series from 2009 to 2011. In 2012-2013, she portrayed the Iranian Safavid spy 'Firuze/Huymerya' in the Magnificent Century. In 2016-2017, she portrayed 'Zeynep Güneş' in the TV series Anne alongside Beren Gökyldz, who played her daughter Turna/Melek. From 2020 to 2022, Cansu portrayed 'Asya Ylmaz' in the Turkish adaptation of the English-made Doctor Foster series broadcast on Kanal D, in which she co-starred with Caner Cindoruk and Melis Sezen.
