Brittany Leanna Robertson is an American actress who was born on April 18, 1990. She has also starred in Tomorrowland (2015), The Space Between Us (2017), A Dog's Purpose (2017), and I Still Believe (2020). She is most recognized for playing the protagonist in The First Time (2012).
In the opening sequence of Wes Craven's Scream 4 (2011), she played Marnie Cooper. Robertson is also well-known for her leading performances in several television series, including Girlboss (2017), For the People (2018-2019), The Secret Circle (2011-2012), Life Unexpected (2010–2011), and The Rookie: Feds (2022).
Brittany Robertson was her name when she first began her career, with Britt Robertson being her only name starting in late 2011.
Early Life
Robertson was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, to restaurant owner Ryan Robertson and Beverly (née Hayes). Greenville, South Carolina, served as Robertson's upbringing. The oldest of seven children, she has three siblings—two girls and one boy—from her mother and stepfather, and one girl and two boys from her father and stepmother.
Robertson relocated to Los Angeles from North Carolina when she was 14 years old in order to attend TV pilot auditions. She traveled with her grandmother Shuler Robertson. They would bond on set during downtime, according to Robertson. Since her grandmother's relocation to North Carolina when Robertson was sixteen, she has been living independently. They keep in touch.
Career
Robertson made her public debut while playing a variety of roles on stage at her hometown's Greenville Little Theater. She started making lengthy journeys to Los Angeles at the age of 12 to attend television series auditions, where she eventually earned a part in a series pilot that was never picked up by a network. In a 2000 episode of Sheena, she made her acting debut as the younger version of the show's lead. The following year, she made a cameo on Power Rangers Time Force, for which she was nominated for a Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV Movie, Miniseries, or Special - Leading Young Actress.
In Growing Pains: Return of the Seavers, Robertson was chosen to portray Michelle Seaver. of 2006, a part of Keeping Up with the Steins came about. In the movie Dan in Real Life from 2007, she portrayed Cara Burns. Robertson played a recurring part in the CBS television series Swingtown and made an appearance in the "Go to Hell" episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
She portrayed the lead character in The Tenth Circle, a Lifetime original movie released in 2008 and adapted from the same-titled book by Jodi Picoult, before moving on to other television roles.
She made an appearance in Mother and Child in 2009. She performed a brief part as DJ in The Alyson Stoner Project that same year. In the episode "Babes" of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Tina Bernardi, a Catholic teen who becomes pregnant through a pact, made a cameo appearance. She played Allie Pennington in the Disney Channel original movie Avalon High, which premiered in late autumn 2010.
Robertson portrayed Lux Cassidy, the series' main character, in the television drama Life Unexpected (2010–2011), which was canceled after only two seasons despite receiving favorable reviews. She was in Scream 4 in 2011. She also starred in the supernatural teen drama TV show The Secret Circle (2011–2012), however it was canceled after the first season. She appeared in the movie The First Time the same year.
She assumed the part of Angie in the 2013 season of the science fiction mystery television show Under the Dome, which she continued to portray through 2014. She went on to appear in the movies Ask Me Anything (2014) and Delivery Man (2013), for which she earned the Nashville Film Festival's Best Actress prize. Robertson won the Best Supporting Actress Boston Film Festival Award in 2014 for her work in White Rabbit. She appeared in The Longest Ride and Tomorrowland in 2015, the latter of which earned her a nomination for Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Movie Actress at the Teen Choice Awards.
After securing the character of Sophia Danko in The Longest Ride, Robertson gained more notoriety in 2015. She was nominated for a Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie Actress - Drama. She appeared in the movies Mr. Church and Mother's Day in 2016 and the comedic-drama movies A Dog's Purpose and The Space Between Us in 2017 respectively. In the same year, she starred as a fictionalized version of self-made millionaire Sophia Amoruso in the Netflix comedy series Girlboss. For the entire two seasons of the ABC legal drama For the People, she played the lead role.
I Still Believe, a faith-based biographical romantic movie from Lionsgate, stars Robertson as Melissa Henning, the real-life wife of Christian rock artist Jeremy Camp. The movie came out in March 2020. Robertson joined the cast of the ABC drama Big Sky in January 2021 as Cheyenne Kleinsasser, a recurring character. Robertson was chosen to play the title role in the upcoming independent movie The Re-Education of Molly Singer on July 30, 2021.
Private life
Robertson made her engagement to Paul Floyd official on May 25, 2022. On April 8, 2023, the couple exchanged vows in Los Angeles.
