Barbie image leaks have horrified Margot Robbie, she claims.

Although Margot Robbie has often stated how surprising her Barbie movie will be, it appears that the Suicide Squad star found the experience of being photographed and recorded while filming the movie to be "mortifying." When you are dressed in brilliant pink Lycra, you undoubtedly draw a lot of attention. It has been expected that any film production that goes outside to shoot sequences will attract the attention of onlookers and paparazzi. When the topic of Barbie was brought up, Robbie appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Regarding the stolen photos and videos, she said:

"I won't even begin to describe how embarrassed we were. We appear to be laughing and having a good time, but we are actually in terrible pain. Dying. I thought, "This is the most embarrassing time of my life." I mean, I understood that we needed to shoot some exteriors in Los Angeles. When you started taking exterior photos, I knew you'd get photographed. Because we stand out a little bit in those outfits, there will probably be a little gathering of people who will pay attention. I therefore anticipated some interest and that perhaps some images would circulate, but not to the extent that they did. It was frenzied. It appeared that hundreds of people were constantly observing."
While set leaks have appeared to depict the precise kind of Barbie character you would anticipate, it is apparent that the tale will set the Barbie movie apart. Margot Robbie has said that the movie will "subvert expectations" since she first made the claim back in 2020. Simu Liu, Robbie's co-star, has also made reference to this while praising the actress and the film, saying that it left him wondering how Mattel approved it. Previously, he stated:

The script is among the greatest I've ever read. Many people will likely be surprised by it because, in my opinion, when they see Mattel or Barbie, they tend to become pessimistic. I read the script, and my first impression was, "How the heck did they get Mattel to sign off on this?" Because this is not the kind of movie that corporate rulers approve of, I wondered how they managed to get Mattel to sign. I'm not ashamed to say that I adore movies of this genre. It’s witty, it’s subversive, and it’s meta, and it makes fun of itself. How did they grasp it sufficiently to green light it? Props, in my opinion, go to Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley who produced it in addition to Greta.

The plot of the movie is still largely unknown, however there have been reports that it will involve Barbie being aware of the "Barbie World" she lives in and desiring to leave it. Beyond that, we are still awaiting the official synopsis, which should be revealed soon. Barbie will currently be available on July 21, 2023.
