Bae Su-ji (born October 10, 1994) is a South Korean singer, actress, and model better known as Bae Suzy. She was a member of the JYP Entertainment girl group Miss A. She made her television debut in the series Dream High (2011) and has since appeared in Gu Family Book (2013), Uncontrollably Fond (2016), While You Were Sleeping (2017), Vagabond (2019), Start-Up (2020), and Anna (2022). Her feature film debut was in Architecture 101. (2012). In her home country, she has been dubbed "The Nation's First Love" following her successful film debut.
Bae was born on October 10, 1994, in Buk District, Gwangju, South Korea, to Bae Wan-young and Jeong Hyun-sook. She has a younger brother and an older sister. She graduated from the School of Performing Arts Seoul in 2013. She worked as an online shopping model prior to her debut.
Career 2009-2010: Miss A debut

Bae auditioned for Mnet Superstar K in 2009 and made it through the preliminary round before being eliminated. She did, however, catch the eye of a JYP Entertainment scout and soon became a trainee.

From 2017 to the present: solo debut and new agency
Yes? No? was Bae's debut album as a solo artist, released in early 2017. Her pre-release single "Pretend" was released on January 17 and went straight to the top of the music charts. A week later, on January 24, 2017, the title track, "Yes, No, Maybe," was released. In February 2017, Bae released "Don't Wait for Your Love," a duet with singer Park Won. She then returned to television, co-starring with Lee Jong-suk in the September 2017 fantasy thriller drama While You Were Sleeping. JYP Entertainment announced the disbandment of Miss A on December 27, following the announcement of Min's departure. JYP Entertainment renewed Bae's contract.
Bae released her pre-release track "In Love with Someone Else" on January 22, which achieved a real-time all kill. She joined musician Kang Seung-2nd won's album project three months later, singing the fifth track "Because I Love You," a ballad about shy love feelings. The same year, she stars in Coupang Play's Anna as Lee Anna/Lee Yu-mi, a woman who lives a completely different life under a new identity, beginning with a small lie she made up. In the six-episode series, audiences praised Bae for her acting abilities and portrayal of the character Anna's emotions (reduced from the original eight-episode count). Bae released the digital single "Cape" and its music video on October 6.

In April 2014, Bae donated $50 million to the victims of the Sewol ferry sinking, to be used for relief efforts for the Sewol ferry's missing and survivors, as well as for the victims' families.
