Ayesha Omar (born October 12, 1981) is a Pakistani actress and YouTuber. Omar is a style icon in her home country and one of Pakistan's most popular and highest-paid actresses.
In 2012, she released her first singles, "Chalte Chalte" and "Khamoshi," which were commercial successes in Pakistan but received mixed reviews from critics. Omar later won the Lux Style Award for Best Album. In 2015, she made her feature film debut as the lead in the romantic comedy Karachi Se Lahore, which was followed by supporting roles in the war film Yalghaar (2017) and the drama Kaaf Kangana (2019).
Childhood and education
Omar was born in the city of Lahore. Her father died when she was one year old, and her mother raised Omar and her brother as a single parent. Her childhood was described as "tough" and "independent." She attended Lahore Grammar School before attending the National College of Arts for her Bachelors and Masters degrees. She participated in co-curricular activities and learned to dance through theatre plays while in high school and college.
Career
Modeling
Omar began her modelling career. She has appeared in commercials for Kurkure, Harpic, Capri, Pantene, and Zong, among others. Omar began hosting the PTV show Meray Bachpan Kay Din when he was eight years old. She later hosted the CNBC Pakistan morning show Yeh Waqt Hai Mera, Prime TV's Rhythm, and ARY Zauq's Hot Chocolate. She attended New York Fashion Week in 2018 as Pakistan's representative for the cosmetics brand Maybelline New York.
Acting
Omar made her acting debut on PTV with the series College Jeans. Following that, she co-starred in Geo TV's drama series Dolly Ki Ayegi Baraat with veteran actors such as Bushra Ansari, Saba Hameed, and Jawed Sheikh. She has played Khoobsurat in the popular sitcom Bulbulay since 2009, opposite actor Nabeel. Bulbulay has become Pakistan's most watched sitcom. Following the success of Bulbulay, Omar received extensive media coverage and established himself as a household name. The show's second season is currently airing on ARY Digital.
Omar then appeared in the PTV drama Dil Ko Manana Aya Nahi, opposite Amanat Ali, and in the Geo TV drama Ladies Park, alongside Humayun Saeed, Azfar Rehman, Hina Dilpazeer, and Mahnoor Baloch.
She appeared in Hum TV's highly successful romantic-drama serial Zindagi Gulzar Hai in 2012. Sara, a girl with grey hair, was her character. She portrayed Fawad Khan's on-screen sister in the series. "Fawad I've known since I was in college," she said in an interview with The News International. We were both involved in the Lahore underground music scene, he with EP and me with my college band. We've had some great times together and have practically grown up together. He was always adorable and talented. But he didn't stop there: he also didn't stop thinking about what he was doing.
Tanhai, a successful Hum TV show, cast her as the main antagonist Arzoo in 2013.
She has also appeared in Geo Kahani's Soha or Savera and Hum TV's Woh Chaar. Aside from television, she sang item songs in the commercially successful Pakistani films Love Mein Ghum and Main Hoon Shahid Afridi.
Following her success on Pakistani television, Omar made her film debut in the lead role of Wajahat Rauf's road drama film Karachi Se Lahore, in which she was paired opposite Shehzad Sheikh. The film received generally mixed reviews from critics upon its initial release. "There was barely anything for Ayesha Omar in the script, which is why her performance doesn't get noticed more than a girl wearing a revealing top, in a jeep flooded by guys," wrote the Express Tribune of Omar's appearance in the film. Even her item number Tutti Fruity was jittery and certainly not worth the hype." Although Karachi Se Lahore was not well-received critically, it was a major box office success, grossing 10 crore (US$1.0 million) worldwide.
After signing a few films, Omar continued to act in television plays and made appearances on Mr. Shamim and Kitni Girhain Baaki Hain 2.
Her next film, Yalghaar, was released in 2017, in which she played the intense Zarmina. "Even more elusive is Ayesha Omar's purpose on the set," Dawn.com says of her character. Tor Jan (Humayun Saeed) and his terrorists kidnap a bride during her wedding ceremony. If she has a role, it is to constantly cry and have Tor Jan whisper philosophical sayings into her ear. "Yalghaar is one of the most expensive Pakistani films ever made, and the cost of waterproof makeup on Ayesha Omar's ashen face, coupled with an endless cascade of fake tears, have undoubtedly contributed their share." Despite having an ensemble cast that included Shaan, Humayun Saeed, and Adnan Siddiqui, among others, the film failed to garner a high score at the box office, and collected around 200 million (US$1.9 million
In 2018, Omar made a cameo appearance in the film Saat Din Mohabbat In, which starred Sheheryar Munawar and was released in June 2018. In a press statement, Omar said of the film, "I said yes to the movie as soon as I read the script." I absolutely loved the film's concept because it is a complete entertainer with a dash of both comedy and romance." The film was a box office success.
In 2019, she appeared as a supporting character in Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar's romantic drama film Kaaf Kangana. "Omar's character, though brief in its screen-time, provides some relief, both aesthetically compared to the odious styling featured in the rest of the film and in terms of acting and dialogue," wrote Haiya Bokhari of Dawn.com. Her natural effervescence shines through, providing some relief to tired eyes." The film was a box office flop.
Music
Omar first performed "Man Chala Hai" for her Capri commercial. Then she sang "Bhooli Yaadon Mein," the title song of her show Ladies Park, and "Manjali," the title song of Geo TV's Manjali. She also performed "Aoa" and "Tu Hi Hai."
Omar released two albums in 2012, "Chalte Chalte" and "Khamoshi," for which she won the Lux Style Award for Best Album, and her third album, "Gimme Gimme," was released in 2013. She sang "Laage Re Nain," an old classical song, and "Miyan Ki Malhar," a fusion song, for Coke Studio Pakistan in 2013. (Season 6).
Painting
Painting and singing were her first passions and career choices before acting and modelling, according to the NCA Fine Arts graduate.
Private life
Ayesha Omar and her co-star Azfar Rehman were involved in a car accident in December 2015. According to reports, the actors were on their way from Karachi to Hyderabad when the accident occurred. According to a source, another vehicle collided with their vehicle, causing it to swerve off the road and into a ditch. "My entire life flashed in front of my eyes as I held onto my seat waiting to be hit by a truck," Omar said after recovering from his injuries.
"I have been through harassment in my career and life, so I understand how it feels," Omar said in a 2020 interview with Ahsan Khan on his show Bol Nights with Ahsan Khan. I don't have the courage to discuss it yet, but maybe someday. But I completely understand everyone who has been through it."

I am still taken aback when people refer to me as a style icon because I never really cared about what I wore. I was a tom boy as a child and never really cared about how I looked. I am still more of a tomboy than a style icon. I keep my style very easy-going and laidback. My inner style plays well with the monochromes.”
One of my aunt’s best friends was the general manager of PTV back then and she got me to host my first TV show. At just eight years of age, I was given the coveted chance to interview the biggest celebrities of Pakistan like Inzamam-ul-Haq, Javed Miandad, Adnan Sami Khan, Tina Sani, Arshad Mehmood, and many more.”
I was part of a sitcom made by students and graduates. Its shooting used to take place in the college and the plot was based on life in NCA. A number of people spotted me there and offered me roles in different television projects. I couldn’t juggle acting in additional projects while I was at college because education was my first priority. However, after graduating, I started taking up more work.”
I thought it would be a fun day trip. We’d chit chat on the drive. Interestingly, I had to shoot Bulbulay (her hugely popular sitcom) the next day. And we have never cancelled a shoot ever before. But, somehow, my team and I figured out a way for me to take time out. Everything fell into place a little too smoothly. We hit an overtaking truck on the highway just before Hyderabad and had two collisions due to being bumped into by another truck from the back. It’s a miracle that me and Azfar came out alive because the car was completely destroyed. I was immobile and picked up by Azfar and a group of passersby and put into a police mobile that transported us to a rundown govt clinic in Jamshoro.”
In the massive accident, Ayesha broke her collarbone, and her right shoulder got fractured.
That really is the strangest rumour I’ve heard about myself. If you check out my Wikipedia page, it mentions Ali Kazmi as my spouse, which is bizarre! ”
Celebrities all over the world have their own brands and clothing lines because people like their style and want to dress like them. Anoushey and I decided to make our “style” available to others, too. Don’t forget that I have a degree in fine arts so my aesthetics are pretty strong anyways.”
I’ve been hearing lately is that I’ve gone under the knife and had surgery to lose weight! I’ve made a whole lifestyle change. I’ve cut out all the junk and processed food from my life and embraced the natural. The transformation has been miraculous. I’ve never exercised in my life, yet I’ve managed to lose more weight than people who do. I eat pure and desi and I take my own food with me when I’m shooting. It’s hard work and requires wholehearted commitment but you shouldn’t expect to look good without having to work for it.”
A huge powerful man, twice my age. I had just entered the industry, I was this young 23-year-old, fresh out of college, and bam, this started happening. And it went on for years. It wasn’t a one-off incident, and I just didn’t want to process it. I put in a box, I said okay, this is happening in my life, I have to deal with it. I didn’t wanna share it with anybody. I let it stay there for 15 years, and I finally spoke about it to someone two years ago.”
Twelve years ago, when I was very young, Facebook was just newly invented and everybody was joining it, so, I also joined it and started uploading my pictures, I uploaded my vacations pictures from Sumui, Thailand. There was nothing wrong in the pictures, there were just two girls who were enjoying their vacations and were chilling around, also, the pictures were leaked because maybe my privacy settings were not on and somebody had stolen them from my laptop as well, after that, people started emailing my pictures to each other because there was no WhatsApp at that time, it became a biggest issue at that time.”
P.s. turned off comments! Don’t want negative energy around. We just doing our work baby and laughing through the hard, tough shoot to keep our energy, mood and focus up. It was freezing and raining and we hadn’t slept properly in days because of nonstop shoot. We had 30 minutes to finish the entire sequence. We still put in our best with smiles on our faces. And that’s NOT easy.”
