Ye, a 45-year-old musician and Yeezy designer who recently underwent a legal name change from Yeezy to Ye, opened the Balenciaga SS23 runway show.
According to Demna, creative director of the high-end clothing line, the mud is "a symbol for digging for the truth and being grounded."
"Individualism in fashion is demoted to faux trends dictated by a post in tales of some celebrity of the moment," the Georgian fashion designer said. "Fashion, in its best-case scenario, should not need a story to be marketed to someone. Let us let everyone be anyone."
The "Good Morning" singer donned a leather jacket that was large, leather pants, a baseball cap, and his hoodie on top.
Kanye and his ex-wife Kim Kardashian's children, North, Chicago, Psalm, and Saint West, were photographed travelling to the event with their father. Kanye's former sister-in-law Kylie Jenner was also present.
Kanye models for Balenciaga, following in the footsteps of SKIMS founder Kim, 41.
The reality star made a splash earlier this year while covered in many layers of black and yellow tape bearing the Balenciaga logo.
Ye, however, recently claimed that Gap had "copied" his work.
The rapper asserted that the retailer's own designs were based on concepts from his Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga collaboration.
He revealed a text conversation with an unidentified person in which the texter supplied a link to a picture of a navy T-shirt with the Gap emblem on the front and the message: "This is Gap copying — YGEEB.""
Kanye replied: "Exactly.
"Do you want this text message posted online?
The "Stronger" actor complained about the business once more in the caption of the post, claiming they had cancelled a scheduled photo shoot with his children without telling him.
But without telling me, they postponed the photo session with his children in Japan, he wrote."
Kanye asserted in a another post that Gap had excluded him from meetings.
Gap convened a meeting about me without me? He said in a post where he was wearing some Yeezy sunglasses.
The singer of "Bound 2" also uploaded a video in which he spoke to a crowd that may have included Gap employees.
"This is not celebrity marketing," he proclaimed. This is not a joint effort. This is my life's work."
And in a subsequent post, Kanye criticised both Gap and another one of his partners, Adidas, for breaking a pledge to construct "permanent storefronts" for their projects.
He wrote: "I'll acquire the land and maybe building. Then we going to set up in every state and then internationally." When announcing his intention to start opening independent Yeezy boutiques around the world, starting in Atlanta.
"Post your Instagram account or store location in the comments if you have over ten years of retail experience and are ready to change the world, and we'll find you.
"Even though I simultaneously saved both of those businesses, neither company has built a permanent store, as promised in the contracts I made with Gap and Adidas.
