I definitely feel like I had the best of both worlds." At this time, Tisdale continued to work and go to school.
Breakthrough in the film and music industries from 2005 to 2009
In 2005, Tisdale joined the main cast of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody on the Disney Channel. She remained a part of the show until 2008. With 7.7 million viewers upon its premiere, the movie was the most popular movie on the network in 2006. Over three million copies of the soundtrack for the movie, which featured numerous contributions from Tisdale, were sold in the US alone. Her first top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, "What I've Been Looking For" (2006), was a duet with Lucas Grabeel and was given a gold record certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 after selling 64,000 copies in its first week of availability in the United States. Over 500,000 copies of the project were successfully sold in the nation on a commercial level. Later, "He Said She Said" was re-released as the second single from the album to help promote it, and it went on to receive a gold certification from the RIAA. The remaining two singles from the album were only made available in a few European countries. To promote the record, Tisdale started her Headstrong Tour Across America. There's Something About Ashley, a 2007 documentary co-executive produced by her, details the making of her music videos as well as the recording of her album.
In High School Musical 2, Sharpay Evans was played by Tisdale once more. The movie was the most watched one on cable television when it debuted, with seventeen million viewers. She gained praise for the role she played in the movie, which led to two nominations for Primetime Emmy Awards. The movie's soundtrack, which sold 615,000 copies in its first week of sale, topped the Billboard 200. Additionally praised by critics, Phineas and Ferb has won three Primetime Emmy Awards. Tisdale continued to play the character in various television movies until the show's cancellation in 2015.
Blondie Girl Productions, Tisdale's own production company, was established in 2008. Tisdale made her acting and executive producing debuts in the 2008 television movie Picture This, in which she played Mandy Gilbert, an outcast and victim of bullying. To 4.3 million viewers' delight, the movie had its ABC Family debut in 2008. In the October 2008 release of High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Tisdale reprised her role as Sharpay Evans. She was one of the movies' breakout stars, according to Entertainment Weekly's Owen Gleiberman, and 2008's "best supporting actress" according to Mark Kermode.
In 2008, Tisdale started production on her second studio album, giving herself more creative freedom than she had with her debut. With the album, Tisdale attempted to achieve a more "rock-oriented" and "edgier" sound than on her previous album. "It's Alright, It's OK" (2009), which saw some success in nations like Austria and Germany, came out prior to the project. Guilty Pleasure, her second studio album, was released on June 11, 2009, however it wasn't until July 28 that it was made available in the US. The album debuted at number twelve on the Billboard 200 with an estimated 25,000 copies sold in its first week. "Crank It Up" (2009), the second and album's last single, was made available in a few European countries. After the album was released, Tisdale and the label split. Tisdale started dating filmmaker Scott Speer, who had previously helmed her music videos, at this time; the couple would split up in 2011. In the 2009 movie Aliens in the Attic, Tisdale played the role of teenager Bethany Pearson. With $60 million in global box office receipts, the movie was only a modest box office hit.
TV roles and behind-the-scenes work from 2010 to 2014
In 2010, Tisdale made her return to television official, playing Savannah Monroe, the head cheerleader, in the CW drama Hellcats. Tisdale reportedly made $30,000 per episode, making her the highest paid cast member on the show. The network canceled the program in 2011 after just one season. In order to create, develop, and produce movies and television shows, Blondie Girl Productions inked a production agreement in 2010. Tisdale provided voices for The Cleveland Show and Family Guy during this time; she also made appearances in two episodes of the former. Sharpay Evans' life in New York after she graduates from high school would be the focus of a High School Musical spin-off, Disney Channel revealed in 2010. It was announced that Tisdale would play Evans again in the spin-off and act as the project's executive producer. In August 2011, Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure debuted on Disney Channel to five million viewers. In 2012, she worked as the executive producer of the reality program Miss Advised. In 2013, E! broadcast the Inner Circle television program, which Tisdale created and was centered on her friendship with actress Vanessa Hudgens. Tisdale collaborated with Disney Channel once more the following year on the movie Cloud 9, for which she served as executive producer. Young & Hungry, an ABC Family comedy series that debuted in June 2014 and features Emily Osment, is also produced by Tisdale. The Weinstein Company revealed in June 2012 that Tisdale had been granted the main role in Scary Movie 5 by Dimension Films. She played the dancer Jody, who was in her late 20s. The movie was released in April 2013, had a $15 million opening weekend, the lowest for a Scary Movie movie, and received negative reviews from reviewers. 2013 saw Tisdale guest star on CBS's The Crazy Ones and as Jazmine, the character's sister, in a recurring role on ABC's sitcom Super Fun Night. In the same year, Tisdale was chosen to play the lead role in the animated series Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch on Hub Network. Tisdale was nominated for "Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program" at the 41st Daytime Emmy Awards for her portrayal of Sabrina.
In 2013, Tisdale revealed to MTV that she had started writing her third studio album. She expressed the desire to "surprise people a little bit, something different from what I've done before" and said that she had been motivated to start writing music once more. The record, which was planned for release in 2014, has a dance-pop feel, Tisdale revealed to MTV. On her Twitter page, Tisdale alluded about a "special project" including music in December 2013. She acknowledged that the song was a single with the title "You're Always Here" that was composed in memory of her deceased grandfather. The song was ultimately independently released that same month to digital shops.

The show had its first season from June to August 2015 until it was cancelled in October. In the fall of that year, Tisdale joined Signorelli as creative director, and in 2016, the company collaborated with him to establish a clothing line. Artistry
Acting
Tisdale has claimed that in order to personalize each character she plays, she offers something new to the role. Tisdale was initially hesitant to take on parts that required more experience since she believed "you can never go backward" after the High School Musical series concluded in 2008. In 2012, she begun to take on roles that required more maturity. Her first adult roles were as the expensive escort Emma Jean in the drama series Sons of Anarchy (2012) and as the mother of three children Jody Sanders in the 2013 film Scary Movie 5. After Scary Movie 5, Tisdale remarked that the role had forced her outside of her comfort zone and that she intended to push herself further in the future. She admitted that she had been apprehensive about playing Logan Rawlings, a lesbian, in Young & Hungry (2014), but that she enjoys "playing different characters and pushing the envelope out of own comfort level." Jake Gyllenhaal, Johnny Depp, Robin Williams, and Rebel Wilson are her key acting role models. Tisdale says she'd like to follow in Shia LaBeouf's footsteps because "he did it so well" and that Wilson's ability to juggle acting, writing, and producing roles in ABC's Super Fun Night has inspired her.
Film producers and critics have praised her for her acting abilities. She was referred to be a "scene stealer" in the 2007 film High School Musical 2 by Variety's Laura Fries. While Andy Webster of The New York Times praised Tisdale's acting, particularly because of how her "elastic face lends itself to numerous reaction shots," Jennifer Frey of The Washington Post claims that Tisdale dominated the movie despite not being the lead character. Tisdale is described as a "big comedic actress" with a "gift" for humor by John Schultz, who also directed the 2009 movie Aliens in the Attic in which she starred. Her performance in Scary Movie 5 (2013), however, drew criticism from critics despite praise from the show's creator, Kevin Murphy, who said Tisdale "can hold multiple colors in the same palette." The Hollywood Reporter's Frank Scheck criticized the movie as a whole and complained that Tisdale wasn't funny enough. Additionally, she did not have "comic timing" in the movie, according to Rafer Guzman of Newsday.
Musical Form
Ballads, dance-pop, hip hop, and rock elements can all be heard in Tisdale's music, which is primarily categorized as pop. Boys, heartbreak, and ending relationships frequently appear in Tisdale's lyrics. She viewed her musical profession as a means of inspiring and relating to her listeners. She asserted that with her second album, Guilty Pleasure (2009), she was able to realize her artistic goals after allowing herself to "learn [herself] as an artist" with her debut album, Headstrong (2007). Christina Aguilera, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Pat Benatar, Pink, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Led Zeppelin, and AC/DC are just a few of the artists Tisdale has cited as influences in her musical career. Tisdale claimed that "almost anything" can inspire her, but that female pop singers are her main sources of inspiration. She frequently co-writes the songs she records; for her debut album Headstrong, she was credited with writing four songs, and for her album Guilty Pleasure, she co-wrote five songs. She has songwriting credits on several songs, many of them are intimate. When talking about the songs she co-wrote for her second studio album, Guilty Pleasure, Tisdale stated in 2009 that "a lot of the songs on the album about survival and staying strong" and that she wanted those songs to be "a statement and a reflection of what [she went] through over the past year and how [she has] grown up." She identified the song "What If" as the most personal song she co-wrote for the album. She and her husband French composed the song "You're Always Here" after the passing of her grandfather.
Critics' reactions to her music have been conflicted. Billboard compared her first album, Headstrong, to the early work of Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears. When reviewing Tisdale's debut album Headstrong for AllMusic, Heather Phares noted that her voice was "pleasant enough" but not "distinctive," and that she had "more character singing" due to her role in the High School Musical films. Later on, Phares commended Tisdale's voice, stating that it was "chirpy, slightly saccharine, and perfect." Guilty Pleasure, her second studio album, received "mixed or average reviews" according to Metacritic, where it now holds a 48% rating. With her 2009 album Guilty Pleasure, Tisdale "can deliver the radio-ready goods," according to Keri Masson of Billboard, but he criticized the album as a whole because he thought it "doesn't give the singer room to comfortably let loose." She is not "convincing" on Guilty Pleasure, according to Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic, who nevertheless appreciated the album's overall songwriting caliber. The Los Angeles Times' Margaret Wappler gave the album a poor review, stating that it had "few glimmers of hope" and accusing the producers of "not seeming to have gifted Tisdale with their best work."
Public Perception
Tisdale is regarded as a sex symbol due to her appearances on Maxim's Hot 100 list of sexiest women and hottest celebrities in 2008 (ranking number 10), 2013, and 2014 (ranking number seven). She was featured in the annual "nude issue" for Allure in May 2011 and appeared on the cover of Maxim's May 2013 edition. She explained to Allure that "being in this shoot was me saying, 'I'm not just the young girl everybody thinks I am. I'm actually a woman.'" Tisdale has grown to be a well-known and active figure on social media; as of May 2019, she had more than 19 million Facebook Likes and more than 13 million Twitter followers. She spent three weeks on Billboard's Social 50 chart, peaking at number 18, as a result of her success on social media. In 2014, she also won the "Social Media Superstar" title at the Young Hollywood Awards. The Huffington Post ranked her as the 45th most powerful woman on Twitter in 2015.

Tisdale additionally supports Habitat for Humanity, an organization that constructs houses for those in need. She and her High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens were both set to participate on Idol Gives Back 2008. They filmed a video from the set of High School Musical 3: Senior Year to support the cause because they were unable to attend owing to their filming commitments. She contributed her cover of Wham! to the album A Very Special Christmas 7!"Last Christmas" by ; sales revenue went to the Special Olympics. She visited the Pacoima Charter School BEST After School Enrichment Program in Pacoima, California as part of the campaign, and gave shoes, clothes, and gift cards to each child who participated. 2013 saw the recording of "You're Always Here" by Tisdale, who later made it available as a charity single on digital platforms.
