Asha Negi (born August 23, 1989) is a television actress from India. She is most known for her roles in Pavitra Rishta as Purvi Deshmukh and Baarish as Gauravi Karmarkar. Negi made her television debut as Madhura in Sapnon Se Bhare Naina in 2010, and later as Apeksha Malhotra in Ekta Kapoor's Bade Achhe Lagte Hain on Sony TV in 2011. She made her breakthrough in the soap opera Pavitra Rishta, where she played Purvi Deshmukh from 2011 to 2014.
In 2013, she and her Pavitra Rishta co-star and partner Rithvik Dhanjani won the dance reality competition Nach Baliye 6. Her other roles include Suhana/Kalpana in Zee TV's Ek Mutthi Aasmaan and Koyal in StarPlus's Kuch Toh Hai Tere Mere Darmiyaan. She later appeared on Colors TV in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 6. In 2019, she starred as Gauravi Karmakar in the online series Baarish alongside Sharman Joshi.
Negi grew up in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, the son of LS.Negi and Beena Negi. She was crowned Miss Uttarakhand 2009 in 2009. She subsequently relocated to Mumbai to seek a career as an actress.
Personal life
In 2013, Negi began dating her Pavitra Rishta co-star Rithvik Dhanjani. After 7 years of dating, they split up in 2020.
Negi began her modelling career in 2009 after winning the title of Miss Uttarakhand 2009 during her undergraduate years. She appeared in numerous corporate advertising and picture assignments. Later, in 2010, she auditioned for her first TV serial, Sapnon Se Bhare Naina, in which she played Madhura. Negi starred in the Balaji Telefilms serial Bade Achhe Lagte Hain in 2011, playing the antagonist Apeksha Malhotra. She described the play as a fantastic experience and highlighted lead actress Sakshi Tanwar as an inspiration.
Breakthrough (2011–2014)
Her first major role was on Zee TV's Pavitra Rishta in 2011, where she played the educated, gorgeous, and determined Purvi Desmukh, the adoptive daughter of Archana Deskmukh. (Ankita Lokhande). She received the Gold Awards' stellar performance of the year and the Zee Rishtey Awards' popular favourite Jodi with Rithvik. Negi also received the Fresh Face Female award at the Indian Telly Awards.
Negi and her partner Dhanjani competed in the dancing couple reality show Nach Balliye 6 in November 2013. They were both among the most entertaining contenders. They both won the dance competition in February 2014.
Negi debuted on Zee TV's Ek Mutthi Aasmaan in August 2014. She portrayed Kalpana Raghav Singhania alongside Ashish Chaudhary. In March 2015, she had a brief appearance in the &TV show Killerr Karaoke Atka Toh Latkah.
Khatron Ke Khiladi and subsequent success (2015-present) In 2015, Negi appeared on the celebrity stunt show Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi. She was one of the show's finals. She later participated in Ekta Kapoor's Kumkum Bhagya, alongside Dhanjani, recreating their roles from Pavitra Rishta. She also appeared in an episode of Code Red. She also played in Season 1 of the Box Cricket League in 2015, as well as Season 2 of the BCL. In 2015, she hosted the singing reality show Indian Idol.
Negi was approached and hired in November 2015 to replace Shritama Mukherjee in the StarPlus sitcom Kuch Toh Hai Tere Mere Darmiyaan, which starred Gautam Gupta and Aly Goni. She portrays Gauravi Mehta in Alt Balaji's web series Baarish, opposite Sharman Joshi.
Other projects and appearances
Negi appears as Purvi in a special episode of Punar Vivaah in March 2012. She and Dhanjani performed at the 5th Boroplus Gold Awards in August 2012. Later, she made guest appearances on Hitler Didi and Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke. Negi made a special appearance and performed in the Bigg Boss house with Rati Pandey, Pooja Gor, and Rashami Desai in the grand finale of Bigg Boss 6.
She later performed at the 2013 Zee Rishtey Awards. Negi and Rithvik performed together at the Star Parivaar Awards in 2014. In 2014 and 2016, Negi also shot photos for a television calendar. In 2014, she appeared as a guest star alongside Sargun Mehta in the TV series Jamai Raja. Later, in 2015, she made another appearance in Kumkum Bhagya.
