Amrita Puri is a well-known Indian actress. She made her cinematic debut in the ensemble romantic comedy-drama Aisha (2010), for which she received nominations for Best Female Debut and Best Supporting Actress from Filmfare. Three years later, Puri achieved her first commercial triumph with the male buddy picture Kai Po Che! (2013).
Puri began her career by writing and performing in the theater.
(2010-2023) Bollywood debut and other roles
Puri made her Bollywood film debut in 2010 with Rajshree Ojha's Aisha. Puri played Shefali Thakur, a friend of Sonam Kapoor's eponymous lead, in the ensemble romantic comedy-drama, which also starred Abhay Deol, Ira Dubey, Cyrus Sahukar, Anand Tiwari, Arunoday Singh, and Lisa Haydon. The film was a semi-hit at the box office, earning Puri two nominations for Best Female Debut and Best Supporting Actress at the 56th Filmfare Awards.
Puri featured opposite Kunal Khemu in Vishal Mahadkar's directorial debut, the murder thriller Blood Money (2012), where she plays the wife of Khemu's character.
Puri then starred alongside Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh, and Rajkummar Rao in Abhishek Kapoor's buddy drama Kai Po Che! (2013). She played Vidya Bhatt, a district level cricketer's younger sister who falls in love with his closest buddy, in an adaption of the novel The Three Mistakes of My Life.
She gained great acclaim for her performance as Maeher Saluja in the family drama short film Clean, which released on Amazon Mini in 2021.
In 2023, she will play Salman Khan's girlfriend in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, which will be released on April 21, 2023, and Ranveer Singh's girlfriend in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which will be released on July 28, 2023. She will also be seen in Siddharth Anand's action thriller Maut, which will be released under the Yash Raj Films banner and produced by Aditya Chopra.
Work in television (2015-2022)
Puri made her television debut in 2015 with an episode of the Rabindranath Tagore series Stories. In 2016, she played the lead character of Harleen Kaur alongside Purab Kohli in the StarPlus series P.O.W. - Bandi Yuddh Ke, which aired from 2016 to 2017. In 2019, she appeared in two web series as Kavya Arora in Four More Shots Please! and Devyani Singh in Made In Heaven.
In 2022, she co-starred alongside Tahir Raj Bhasin and Amala Paul in the web series Ranjish Hi Sahi as Anju Bhatt.
Personal life
She is the daughter of HDFC Bank MD Aditya Puri.
