Amanda Crew Wiki, Age, Biography, Height, Husband, Family, Images, And More

Canadian actress Amanda Catherine Crew was born on June 5, 1986. She has lead parts as Felicia Alpine in Sex Drive (2008), Tess Carroll in Charlie St. Cloud (2010), and Carrie Miller on the CTV series Whistler (2006–2008) after making her film debut in Final Destination 3 (2006). She is best known for her HBO series Silicon Valley (2014–2019) role as venture capitalist Monica Hall.

Early life

Amanda Crew was born in Langley, British Columbia, in the early 1990s. Her father, Ian Crew, works in telecom, and her mother, Debbie Crew, is a legal secretary. When she was chosen for the musical Dragon Tales in fifth grade, she started acting. This resulted in doing ads and being represented by talent agencies. The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City was her next stop. She has been in a committed relationship with actor Dustin Milligan since October 2010.

Career

2005–2013

At the age of 19, Crew made her acting debut in the ABC adolescent drama Life as We Know It in 2005 as Polly Brewer. She appeared in a cameo as a sorority sister in an episode of Smallville, a TV show based on the Superman character from DC Comics. She co-starred with actress and close friend Meaghan Rath in the YTV adolescent drama 15/Love from 2005 to 2006 where she played Tanis McTaggart. Crew received her first Leo award for her role as Carrie Miller in the CTV drama Whistler from 2006 to 2008.

She made her screen debut in Final Destination 3, the third film in the Final Destination movie series and the fourth chronologically, in 2006. She portrayed Julie Christensen, Wendy's younger sister in the movie. Prior to filming, Crew switched roles from her initial audition for the part of Erin Ulmer to Alexz Johnson's for the role of Julie. The movie was a commercial success, grossing over $117 million at the global box office, despite the critics' mixed reviews. She appeared in the romantic teen comedy John Tucker Must Die as a high school student, but the film garnered mixed reviews.

She later made an appearance in the contemporary rendition of William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, the romantic teen comedy She's the Man. She portrayed Kia, a soccer player who assists Amanda Bynes' character Viola Hastings in posing as her brother to join the guys' soccer team after their chauvinist coach cuts their team. Crew was cast as the lead in the teen road comedy Sex Drive in 2008. She portrayed Felicia Alpine, a teenager who travels by car with her two best friends, Josh Zuckerman and Clark Duke.

She later played Marie in the romantic comedy That One Night, which had its world premiere on February 19, 2008, at the Omaha Film Festival. She co-starred in the 2009 supernatural horror movie The Haunting in Connecticut with Martin Donovan and Kyle Gallner in a minor role. Despite unfavorable reviews from critics, the movie debuted in second place in North America and went on to gross $77.5 million globally. She portrayed Britney, a matchmaker who becomes a breakup artist after her ex-boyfriend launches his own breakup business and snatches her clients, in the romantic comedy The Break-Up Artist.

Crew co-starred in the supernatural romantic drama Charlie St. Cloud in 2010 alongside Zac Efron and Kim Basinger as the title character's love interest. It turned out to be Crew's mainstream breakthrough despite unfavorable reviews. Later same year, she played Sonia Logan, a heroin addict who is caught in a time loop in the sci-fi criminal thriller Repeaters. On September 13, 2010, the movie had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Critics gave it poor reviews. Despite this, the movie was nominated for nine Leo Awards, losing the Best Feature Length Film category to Gunless and receiving nominations for Best Lead Performance by a Female in a Motion Picture for Crew.

Crew played a heroin-dependent single mother in the 2011 criminal drama Charlie Zone. The movie made its international premiere on September 16, 2011, at the Atlantic Film Festival. On October 10, 2012, it screened at the Vancouver International Film Festival. On March 1, 2013, it received a limited theatrical release. Later, she played Nikki, an ambitious actress who clashes with her elder half-sister, in the family drama Sisters & Brothers. Six Leo Awards were given to the movie, including Best Feature Length Film and Best Female Lead Performance in a Motion Picture for Crew.

Crew played a skilled hacker who had stolen money from her father's business in a cameo appearance on the USA Network legal drama Suits. Crew co-starred in the political thriller Knife Fight in 2012 alongside a large cast. She portrays a woman having an affair with Eric McCormack's Larry Becker. On April 25, 2012, the movie had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. In the 2013 thriller Ferocious, Crew appeared with Kim Coates and Katie Boland. She portrayed Leigh Parrish, a small-town girl who became a well-known actress and goes to great efforts to protect her reputation. Crew won her fourth Leo nomination for her performance despite unfavorable reviews.

In the romantic comedy drama Crazy Kind of Love, she subsequently reconnected with Virginia Madsen, her co-star from The Haunting in Connecticut. She portrayed Bette Mack, a woman who develops a close relationship with the youngest boy of a family that is on the verge of disintegrating due to the father's infidelity. She portrayed a hippy college student who had a one-night stand with Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple Inc., in the supporting role of Jobs, a biopic starring Ashton Kutcher. The movie had its premiere on January 25 at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, where it received negative reviews.

2014–2019

Crew played venture investor Monica Hall in Mike Judge's HBO comedy series Silicon Valley from 2014 to 2019. After Christopher Evan Welch's death in 2013, her character, who had previously served as Peter Gregory's (played by Suzanne Cryer) assistant in the first season, becomes Laurie Bream's associate partner in the second. She later departs Bream Hall to join Pied Piper as its CFO and business advisor. She had a cameo appearance on the second season of the CTV police procedural drama series Motive in the role of Robin Keaton, a young widowed mother who unknowingly gets engaged to the guy who killed her son's father.

Later, she and Brian Geraghty starred in the Christian musical drama The Identical as a couple who give one of their newborn twin sons to an infertile couple (played by Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd, respectively) since they can't care for all of them. The movie had a disastrous box office debut on April 17, 2014, at the Nashville Film Festival. She played as alluring librarian Izzy Fontaine in the criminal comedy Bad City, her third project with director Carl Bessai, which had its world premiere on September 10 at the Oldenburg International Film Festival. Nine Leo Awards, including Best Feature Length Drama and Best Supporting Performance by a Female in a Motion Picture for Crew, were nominated for the movie.

She co-starred in the 2015 fantasy romance The Age of Adaline alongside Blake Lively and Ellen Burstyn, playing the college-age daughter of William and Kathy Jones (Henry Ford and Kathy Baker, respectively). In the comedy-drama Weepah Way for Now, which had its world premiere on June 16 at the Los Angeles Film Festival, Crew collaborated with the musical duet Aly & AJ. Crew played Larry Snyder's (Jason Sudeikis') love interest in the biographical sports film Race, which was released in 2016. At the 5th Canadian Screen Awards, the movie was nominated for seven categories, including Best Motion Picture. In the western movie Poor Boy, she co-starred with Michael Shannon as a roller girl who works as a prostitute. On April 17, 2016, the movie had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.

In the romantic sports comedy Chokeslam, she later reconnected with Michael Eklund, her co-star in Ferocious. She portrayed Sheena DeWilde, an irritable wrestler who, although being emotionally involved with her manager Tab Hennessey (played by Niall Matter), is being sought romantically by her ex-boyfriend Corey Swanson (played by Chris Marquette). The movie had its world premiere on October 2, 2016, at the Calgary International Film Festival, and was then released on February 10, 2017, to mostly negative reviews from reviewers. She later acted alongside Ed Harris as a woman whose father was murdered while she was a little child in the drama-thriller A Crooked Somebody. She acted in the 2019 comedy-horror film Tone-Deaf about a house invasion. She portrayed Olive Smith, an entitled and rude millennial who decides to flee to the country and rent a house from widowed baby-boomer Harvey Parker (played by Robert Patrick, who was also one of the film's executive producers), after experiencing several failed relationships and losing her job.
