Alice Sophia Eve is a British actress who was born in 1981/1982. She's Out of My League, Men in Black 3, Star Trek Into Darkness, and Before We Go are among her film credits. She has appeared in recurring roles on the television shows Entourage and Iron Fist.
Eve grew up in London as the daughter of actors Trevor Eve and Sharon Maughan. She is of English, Irish, and Welsh descent and has two younger brothers. She attended Bedales School and More House School before enrolling in A-levels at Westminster School in London.
She studied at the Beverly Hills Playhouse during her gap year before going on to study English at St Catherine's College, Oxford. She appeared in student productions of The Importance of Being Earnest, Animal Crackers (which toured to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe), and Scenes from an Execution while at Oxford.
Career
Eve has appeared in BBC dramas such as The Rotters' Club, Agatha Christie's Poirot and Hawking, and the drama film Stage Beauty (2004).
She appeared in two comedies in 2006: Starter for 10 and Big Nothing (in which she and co-star Simon Pegg put on American accents). She spent the first half of 2006 in India working on the drama miniseries Losing Gemma, which was about backpackers.
Eve has appeared on stage in two plays directed by Trevor Nunn. In 2006, she played young Esme/Alice in Tom Stoppard's new play Rock 'n' Roll at the Royal Court Theatre, a role she later reprised for the Broadway production in 2007. She was nominated for best supporting actress at the Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers' Choice Awards for this performance.
She appeared as Roxane in a production of Cyrano de Bergerac at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 2009.
Eve starred as the female lead in the 2010 American romantic comedy She's Out of My League, in which her parents played her character's parents. In Sex and the City 2, she also played Erin, Charlotte's Irish nanny.
Eve appeared as Sophia, a journalist and Vincent Chase's love interest, in season 8 of the HBO series Entourage in 2011. Eve also played Hollywood actress Lara Tyler in the romantic comedy The Decoy Bride in 2011. Eve is also well-known for playing Dr. Carol Marcus in Star Trek Into Darkness.
In 2012, she played the younger 1969 version of Agent O in the sci-fi comedy Men in Black 3, with Emma Thompson playing the older version.
Eve attended the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show's opening session. She appeared in Paul McCartney's "Queenie Eye" (2013) music video and Rixton's "Hotel Ceiling" (2013) music video (2015).
She co-starred in the romantic drama Before We Go, directed by Chris Evans, in 2013. She portrayed herself in the 2014 Hollywood film Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, and she has since appeared in a number of films, including the action thriller Criminal (2016).
She appeared in "Nosedive," an episode of the anthology series Black Mirror, in 2016. Eve was cast as Mary Walker in Netflix's Iron Fist in December 2017.
Eve was in a long-term relationship with poet Adam O'Riordan, whom she met at Oxford while studying English. They split up in 2012. Eve announced her engagement to her "high school sweetheart," financier Alex Cowper-Smith, whom she met while attending Westminster School in London, on August 14, 2014. They were married on December 31, 2014, and divorced in 2017.
Eve suffers from heterochromia, a condition that causes her eyes to have different coloured irises. Her left eye is blue, while her right is green. She splits her time between London and Los Angeles. On November 16, 2017, she became a naturalised citizen of the United States.
Eve suffers from ADHD.
