A Special Guest Was Brought to Pinocchio by Guillermo Del Toro

Florence Pugh, Jessica Chastain, and Guillermo del Toro were among the famous people that attended the 66th BFI London Film Festival, which recently took place at the Southbank Centre. Guillermo del Toro, according to AV Club, brought along a special visitor to commemorate Pinocchio. The anticipated movie, which will be available to stream on Netflix in December, was shown while the renowned director was captured on camera on the red carpet. The next feature's co-director, co-writer, and co-producer Del Toro posed for pictures with a miniature Pinocchio figurine, and the internet went crazy.
Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro is not to be confused with the newly released Tom Hanks-led Disney+ live-action adaptation.
The upcoming Netflix film is a darker adaptation of the traditional children's fairy tale about a wooden puppet who changes into a real living boy, as anyone familiar with del Toro's prior work might anticipate. The movie's official Instagram page has been brightened by pictures of the cast and crew clutching the adorable wax doll on the red carpet, despite the fact that the actual movie may be more depressing.
Guillermo del Toro announced his Pinocchio film in 2008; it was made by Netflix Animation, The Jim Henson Company, and ShadowMachine. The film was initially slated for release in 2013, but it was delayed due to development issues. The film's production was put on hold since no studios were ready to give funding, even though Patrick McHale and del Toro were hired to co-write the screenplay in 2017. After being acquired by Netflix in 2018, the project's production started up again.
Pinocchio, which Guillermo del Toro co-directed, also stars Ewan McGregor, Finn Wolfhard, Ron Perlman, Cate Blanchett, David Bradley, Tilda Swinton, Gregory Mann, John Turturro, and Christoph Waltz in a voice cast ensemble. The film is also directed by Mark Gustafson, while the screenplay was written by Patrick McHale and Benicio del Toro based on a screenplay by Matthew Robbins. The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, an Italian author, served as the inspiration for the movie.

Pinocchio, directed by Guillermo del Toro, has already been shown to a few critics, and the response has been overwhelmingly favourable. The movie has a very uncommon 100% rating on the review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, which is based on the reviews of 11 critics. Naturally, we fully anticipate that figure to change as more reviews come in, but the initial adulation is a strong sign that Netflix is about to release another critically acclaimed smash.

Speaking of Netflix, in 2020 Guillermo del Toro agreed to a multi-year contract with the company that would give him almost complete creative freedom over additional projects. The well-known director also delivered the streaming services Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia, 3Below: Tales of Arcadia, and Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities, an anthology series that debuts on October 25. In addition to his upcoming Pinocchio movie. Outside of streaming, del Toro recently collaborated with Disney on a remake of the Haunted Mansion, and pre-production on a sequel to the hugely successful horror film Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, which he is co-producing, is also under way.
Guillermo del Toro, who is regarded as one of the most forward-thinking filmmakers of all time, is renowned for creating fantastical worlds like those in Pan's Labyrinth and Crimson Peak. We're interested to see how the Academy Award-winning director approaches the fairytale given that there have been innumerable Pinocchio movies throughout the history of cinema. Thankfully, the wait will soon be over because the Netflix original is set to debut on December 9th, 2023.
