Life and work****

**Yuliya Snigir was born in Donskoy, Tula Oblast, Russian Soviet Socialist Republic. She graduated from Donskoy High School No. 20. She traveled to Moscow, hoping to acquire a decent education, and enrolled in the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the Moscow State Pedagogical University (English department, speciality "English Philology").**

To sustain herself financially, Snigir had to study and work at the same time. When a friend showed images of Yuliya to a representative from a Moscow modeling agency, she was teaching English in the nursery school. Snigir became a successful model while finishing her studies at university. She had been awarded a contract with a renowned French jewelry brand and was about to relocate to France when a casting director noticed her at the modeling agency and invited her to an audition. When she was accepted into the Vakhtangov Theatre Academy, her acting career began. Her feature film début was in The Last Slaughter, which was followed by Vaccine and Gloss.  

Her major break came when she was cast as one of the main characters in the Russian sci-fi hit The Inhabited Island (2008) and its sequel The Inhabited Island: Skirmish. Yulia became the Russian face of L^/Oréal, as well as Mexx clothes and fragrances.  

In 2009, she hosted the STS show Theory of Relativity. In 2010, she began working as a TV host on the Petersburg - Channel 5 channel.  

She co-starred with Bruce Willis in the 2013 thriller A Good Day to Die Hard. She portrayed a Russian adversary named Irina in the film.  

Catherine the Great, a 12-episode historical television series starring the actress, premiered on Channel One in 2015.  

Snigir married actor Yevgeny Tsyganov in 2019. They have one child, a son, together.
