Mariya Aleksandrovna Shalayeva (born 15 March 1981 in Moscow) is a Russian actress. Her filmography includes the films I Will Be Near (2012), Mermaid (2007), and Nirvana (2008).

**Biography**

Mariya was born in the Moscow neighborhood of Tushino. She entered the acting department of the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts in the workshop of Joseph Raihelgauz immediately after graduation. Mariya Shalaeva has appeared in a number of films and television programs, including The Freshman, Masha, Mermaid, and Nirvana.

Her major role in Mermaid earned her numerous honors and nominations...

On a flight to Paris in 2004, the actress met film director Sergei Tkachev. He was charmed by her attractiveness and produced a screenplay specifically for her in a week. Mariya was the title of the film. This is the account of the girl who traveled to Paris. The filming took place in France, including the Louvre (permission to film at the museum is extremely difficult to obtain). The film was nominated for an Academy Award in Russia in 2008.
