Career**** 2009-2015: Beginnings of a career**** **Kang made her film debut in the 2009 short films Last Homecoming and King of Guitar.** She began appearing in minor roles in mainstream films such as Fasten Your Seatbelt, Commitment, and Friend: The Great Legacy in 2013. Kang made her television debut in the romantic comedy drama Miss Korea the same year. Kang^/s first leading role was as a gisaeng in the period film Empire of Lust. In the same year, she appeared in the short film Stand. 2016–present: Increasing popularity**** **Kang rose to prominence in the historical drama Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo as an evil queen. She appeared in the Chinese drama Candle in the Tomb: Mu Ye Gui Shi the same year. She appeared in the romance comedy drama Familiar Wife in 2018. Kang was cast in the thriller drama Designated Survivor: 60 Days, based on the American television series Designated Survivor, in 2019. The same year, she appeared in Woman with a Bleeding Ear, a short drama produced by Drama Stage about a woman who one day begins bleeding from her ears after hearing something she doesn^/t want to hear. She was also confirmed as the new DJ for Volume Up beginning January 6, 2020. Kang appeared as a successful businesswoman in the tvN drama Start-Up in 2020. Kang^/s contract with Fantagio expired in October 2020, and she joined KeyEast. Kang appeared in My Roommate Is a Gumiho in 2021. Kang will co-star with Lee Joon in KBS2^/s historical drama series Bloody Heart (also known as Red Single Heart) in 2022.
